Epic Nostalgia
Revisado: 11-16-23
The author really draws you in with a riveting story from beginning to end with beloved Star Wars characters from Episodes 4-6. I loved the development of Grand Admiral Thrawn's sinister and calculating character. I will definitely be reading the rest of this trilogy.

Historia
This is a study of how intellectuals as a class affect modern societies by shaping the climate of opinion in which official policies develop, on issues ranging from economics to law to war and peace. You will hear a withering and clear-eyed critique about (but not for) intellectuals that explores their impact on public opinion, policy, and society at large.

Historia
Milton Friedman and his wife, Rose, teamed up to write this most convincing and readable guide, which illustrates the crucial link between Adam Smith's capitalism and the free society. They show how freedom has been eroded and prosperity undermined through the rapid growth of governmental agencies, laws, and regulations.

A must read for Libertarians
Revisado: 05-05-21
Though this book was written in the late 70s, the content still applies decades later. A definite read for understanding Libertarian fiscal policy. One of the most important points: government policy, once implemented, can rarely be repealed.

Historia
The culture of “safety” and its intolerance of opposing viewpoints has left many young people anxious and unprepared for adult life. Lukianoff and Haidt offer a comprehensive set of reforms that will strengthen young people and institutions, allowing us all to reap the benefits of diversity, including viewpoint diversity. This is a book for anyone who is confused by what’s happening on college campuses today, or has children, or is concerned about the growing inability of Americans to live and work and cooperate across party lines.

Voice of wisdom in our fracturing society
Revisado: 01-27-21
Authors clearly spelled out untruths facing our children, especially as they move to adulthood. The book provides clarity on the recent events at some college campuses surrounding cancel culture and the impediment of free speech. Reasons for the increase in teen self-harm and suicide, especially in girls, were thoughtfully explored.

Historia
Michael Shellenberger has been fighting for a greener planet for decades. He helped save the world’s last unprotected redwoods. He co-created the predecessor to today’s Green New Deal. And he led a successful effort by climate scientists and activists to keep nuclear plants operating, preventing a spike of emissions. But in 2019, as some claimed "billions of people are going to die", contributing to rising anxiety, including among adolescents, Shellenberger decided that he needed to speak out to separate science from fiction.

A must read to combat climate alarmism
Revisado: 12-15-20
Michael Shellenberger presents an abundance of clear, compelling arguments for why the news media and environmental alarmists should cease their constant barrage of anthropogenic climate change reports. This book outlines why climate change is not as bad as we have heard and why social progress is necessary to bring developing nations out of poverty. The book also strongly argues for nations to adopt more nuclear power--a safer and cleaner alternative to fossil fuels and a far less cyclical alternative to wind and solar power.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.
