Historia
Bavaria, 1776. When Albrecht Dürer the Much Much Younger's frog prints go missing, he knows exactly where to turn for help. Gretel (yes, that Gretel), now 35 and still living with her gluttonous brother Hans, is the country's most famous private investigator, and she leaps at the opportunity to travel to cosmopolitan Nuremberg to take on the case. But amid the hubbub of the city's annual sausage festival, Gretel struggles to find any clues that point toward the elusive thief.

Not the first book
Revisado: 11-05-23
Audible has this listed as the first book in the series it's actually the second and the first book is the one that is listed as a second. I really recommend you read them in that order as they make a lot more sense that way, though each story does stand to a certain extent on its own. Gretel as the main character is funny but she's not very likeable actually a lot of the characters aren't that likable. I noticed it gets a little bit better in the second book versus the first but the stories are still really fun and creative uses of fairy tales.

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Cozy Fantasy
Revisado: 09-19-23
This cozy fantasy is sweet but doesn't have much substance. As this appears to be the author's first book I'm hoping that will improve. I think it was a bad choice to narrate the book by the author they should have hired a female narrator.

Starts a bit disjointed
Revisado: 08-02-23
The story starts a bit disjointed from the different perspectives, especially as there's no time reference. It progressively, in my opinion, gets better and by the end you want the next installment. I was very disappointed to find out that the next one go out in print is not yet available on audible. This is a really good first book most people's first books aren't of this quality. I'm looking forward to seeing what this author produces in the future.

Historia
1940. It's been a month since rector's daughter Billie Harkness left her rural village to make a fresh start in the northern city of Hull. Now she has a new home and an exciting new job as one of only two female police constables in the whole city. But Hull still feels like a foreign country, and some people are less than impressed by the idea of a woman doing a "man's job". But determined to do her bit for the war effort, Billie throws herself into her work. The chance to prove her worth comes during a search for a missing air raid shelter inspector, when Billie makes a shocking discovery.

Enjoyable second installment.
Revisado: 06-10-23
I really enjoy the second installment of the series and I'm glad that it appears that the author is not pushing the romance and focusing more on the mystery and what it's like to be on the homefront during the war.

Not as funny as previous installments
Revisado: 09-19-22
I still really like the story but it's not as funny as previous installments. There was less of the farcical that I have grown to love about Freddy's stories. It actually reminded me more of the authors other series in tone. It did still have some lighter elements.

Whether it's the color of a tie, the style of a hat or a coat, Jeeves is always right. He is there to depend on in times of trouble, and such times are frequent in the lives of Bertie and his friends. Whether it's Corky's artistic career that needs boosting or Bingo Little's gloom that needs lifting, Jeeves can always be relied upon.

This should be listed as the first book
Revisado: 05-30-22
This should be listed as the first book as it contains the first story where Birdie employees Jeeves. All the stories that are Birdie and Jeeves in the supposed first book are also in this one with very small tweaks. The book that is listed as second is still the second book. That first one shouldn't be considered part of the series as it contains many short stories that are not from it. This is a compilation of short stories but they do move in chronological order.

Historia
My Man Jeeves, first published in 1919, introduced the world to affable, indolent Bertie Wooster and his precise, capable valet, Jeeves. Some of the finest examples of humorous writing found in English literature are woven around the relationship between these two men of very different classes and temperaments. Where Bertie is impetuous and feeble, Jeeves is coolheaded and poised.

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

It's nice they're finally ...
Revisado: 08-28-18
I won't give away any spoilers it's just a very satisfying end to this book which I hope does not mean the end to this series. A note about the narrator, I think she did a wonderful job considering she was stepping into the shoes of somebody who was well established in the series and as a great narrator. She did a good job of mimicking the accents that were already established for the characters and that can't be easy.

All she has to do is find out who she really is, protect a soap star from being attacked by a stalker, and work out why so many people seem so afraid of her. Because surely she's a good person. Villain or Heroine
Revisado: 08-06-18
Villain or heroine is the question that as a reader you are asking throughout most of this book; sadly it ends in a cliffhanger and you still don't know the answer. This would be fine if they had the next book available but they don't and I don't know when they will. More of the books in the series are available in print so if I get desperate enough, I could actually physically 'read the book.' But as someone who listens while doing chores. Listening makes it much easier to consume my reading list.
