Historia
It’s an old, familiar story: a young person hears the voice of an angel saying they have been chosen as a warrior to lead their people to victory in a holy war. But Misery Nomaki (she/they) knows they are a fraud. Raised on a remote moon colony, they don’t believe in any kind of god. Their angel is a delusion, brought on by hereditary space exposure. Yet their survival banks on mastering the holy mech they are supposedly destined for, and convincing the Emperor of the Faithful that they are the real deal.

narrator is exhausting
Revisado: 12-01-22
it was like listening to someone deadpan a speech. the narrator reads the words. they don't tell it like a story.
also, there wasn't a whole story here. leaving things open is one thing. but nothing of great interest was really concluded.
maybe wait for the next book and read it instead of listening to it.

Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

This was fantastic!
Revisado: 07-30-15
Why oh why did I read this?!!! It was amazing and who knows how long it will take to get the other 2/3rds of the story.
The narrator is one of my all time favorites right next to Kate reading. He made every person seem real and all their emotions come out through perfect narration.
I can't recommend this book enough unless you are like me and adding another unfinishable trilogy to your list is becoming overbearing. Pick it up, but be prepared to be left in the dark for a few years.

Couldnt have loved anything more
Revisado: 03-09-14
The first books can be a little confusing but by this one you know every character and are completely consumed by their actions. The only tough part is wanting to know what everyone is doing at all times because you love all of them equally and having to wait.

Historia
Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

What an amazing story ruined
Revisado: 03-09-14
For the first half of the book we are shown an amazing world with a creative magic system and interesting characters. You spend most of that wondering if our main character really is a good guy or a bad guy. Then the angel comes in and its whining and wishing and longing to be together but stay apart. "I love you but I don't know why and I shouldn't". This alone is not enough to hate the book but for the entire second half nothing really happens and majority of the time it is just them boringly talking about how they want to be together...but cant.
The world really had me captured but unfortunately this author is nowhere near a romance writer.

Historia
The Clockwork Universe is the story of a band of men who lived in a world of dirt and disease but pictured a universe that ran like a perfect machine. A meld of history and science, this book is a group portrait of some of the greatest minds who ever lived as they wrestled with natures most sweeping mysteries. The answers they uncovered still hold the key to how we understand the world.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Clockwork Universe to be better than the print version?
Yes. The author gives great value to the text and makes me feel like someone is having a conversation with me.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

It's long! Everything is amazing!
Revisado: 07-15-13
What made the experience of listening to The Way of Kings the most enjoyable?
The narrators are the two most impressive you will ever find. The characters are deep and believable. The author makes nothing simple and uses true art for each scene. Did I mention the magic system is creative and follows rules which never are altered for convenience.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Way of Kings?
There is a scene where kelseir must decide between honor and freedom and listening to it gives me chills every time. I've never been do moved in my life.
Have you listened to any of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Kate reading is the reason I listen to audio books. I fell in love with her in the codex alera series and will listen to her read the ingredients on the back of bubble gum if I could.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A storm is coming. Can a world at war unite in time to save it?
Any additional comments?
I know some of you look at this book and are dismayed by the 45 hours. But there is a reason it is that long and that's because Brandon Sanderson knows what he's doing. There is never a dull moment or a scene where it feels like he's just trying to transition. It may seem slow at first but they passes very quickly and you can't help but root for everyone even the ones you know are bad people. That's the mark of a gifted writer.
Also, if you don't know Brandon Sanderson pick up the must born trilogy and read immediately.

There will never be anything better!
Revisado: 07-15-13
Would you listen to The Way of Shadows again? Why?
I have read and listened to this book a total of 4 times. It doesn't get old and there is something more to love each time.
Which scene was your favorite?
I wouldn't dare spoil a second of this book for anyone. Buy it, listen closely.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried and laughed. I've never cared so much about a character since Harry potter. This of course, is a far more complex boom with a brilliant magic system which is barely touched upon until the second book. That's how good it is.
Any additional comments?
This is how assassin tales should be told.

Danny North knew from early childhood that his family was different - and that he was different from them. While his cousins were learning how to create the things that commoners called fairies, ghosts, golems, trolls, werewolves, and other such miracles that were the heritage of the North family, Danny worried that he would never show a talent, never form an "outself"....

Give it time, its amazing
Revisado: 07-15-13
Would you listen to The Lost Gate again? Why?
I have listened to it twice. The first time I was confused on the storyline until almost the end, so the second time I really enjoyed it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. At least not the first time.
Any additional comments?
It was annoying at first since I thought two different characters were the same people just in different time. Once I figured it out the story, the magic system, the characters were all so impressive that I'd strongly suggest listening to this book.

Revisado: 07-15-13
Would you listen to One for the Money again? Why?
No. I just don't like stories with rape.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
They did make the movie. It is fairly close to the book and it is much more subtle.
Any additional comments?
I listened to it all. It was very funny but I didn't enjoy reading all the rape and attempted rape. The main character was fascinating and her male counterpart really made it worth finishing.
