Something dark is lurking in the Louisiana bayou: a methodical killer with a penchant for medical experimentation is hard at work completing his most harrowing crime yet, taunting the authorities who desperately try to catch up. But forensic pathologist Dr. Wren Muller is the best there is. Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of historical crimes, and years of experience working in the Medical Examiner's office, she's never encountered a case she couldn't solve. Until now.

New Author, Good Ideas but needs work
Revisado: 06-26-24
I’m coming at this from just listening to the book. It’s a decent first novel. I just… well, I figured out the twist early. Like really early and without any spoilers from other people.
It was easy to pick where the author’s job had given the book color. But she stopped herself short in the “show don’t tell” of storytelling. There were areas that I felt she only brushed rather than going into enough depth. (I’m trying not to give spoilers)
I hope the author will continue to write and get better.

Historia
Holmes and Watson discover that the missing woman—Hannah Woolfson—was herself on the trail of a missing person, her close friend Sophia. Sophia was recruited to a group known as the Elysians, a quasi-religious sect obsessed with Ancient Greek myths and rituals, run by the charismatic Sir Philip Buchanan. Hannah has joined the Elysians under an assumed name, convinced that her friend has been murdered. Holmes agrees that she should continue as his agent within the secretive yet seemingly harmless cult, yet Watson is convinced Hannah is in terrible danger.

Poor Doctor Watson
Revisado: 01-05-24
While I thoroughly enjoy the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, one of the main problems I have with the continued adventures is that they do not credit Dr. Watson with enough intelligence. He was smart enough that Sherlock Holmes kept him as a companion, and yet the most obvious things continue to elude him.

Historia
Take one bored princess. Make her the seventh daughter in a very proper royal family. Have her run away. Add one powerful, fascinating, dangerous dragon. Princess Cimerone has never met anyone (or anything) like the dragon Kazul. But then, she's never met a witch, a jinn, a death-dealing talking bird or a stone prince either. Princess Cimerone ran away to find some excitement. She's found plenty.

Always a good read

I’ve read this story over and over since I was a teen. And it never gets old. This production brought back all the comfort and wonder of the first read—well done!
