Who is this book written for?
Revisado: 04-10-08
Not sure who the audience for this book is supposed to be, but with sage wisdom like "just because you like Japanese food does not mean you should open a sushi restaurant", I'm not any more enlightened than when I started the book.

Historia
To achieve sustained competitive advantage, you must create and deliver something that's valuable, rare, and hard to imitate: and you can't do that with a run-of-the-mill workforce. Your workforce needs to be strikingly different, and obsessively focused on delivering on your unique value proposition. Compared with everyone else's workforce, your people need to be downright strange.

Strangely Uninteresting
Revisado: 08-27-07
Have to agree with Lynn's review. I listened to the entire book and there is nothing new here. In fact, some of it is a bit insulting, like build relationships with your customer... "we tell jokes to our customers"...how trite!

Historia
Life's Greatest Lessons is a wise, wonderful audiobook. In it Hal Urban, a parent and an award-winning teacher, presents 20 principles that are as deeply rooted in common sense as they are in compassion. The topics, gathered from a lifetime of teaching both children and adults, span a wide range of readily understood concepts, including attitudes about money, understanding the real meaning of "success," and the importance of having fun.

Master of the Obvious
Revisado: 02-14-07
His points are so basic they are insulting. For example "you can change your attitude", "think with an open mind" an oh yeah, "be honest". There isn't anything very insightful here.

This Walmart truck swerves all over the road! More than you ever wanted to know in unrelenting detail about Snapper lawnmowers and salmon farming in Chile. This book is bloated an noth worth your time.

Silly-Oversimplified-Outdated
Revisado: 10-30-05
I listened to this and walked away with nothing. He uses over examples like American gas stations and MacDonalds to draw economic and political conclusions which I find oversimplified and far fetched.

Who Picked These Stories?
Revisado: 10-09-05
This was like being read beadtime stories from a Newsweek magazine. In my opinion these are hardly the best business stories of the year and of little value as an audible option.

Historia
Flatland, like our own world, is on the verge of the millenium. On the last day of the year 1999, a Square—hitherto undistinguished from the other shapes of his two-dimensional world—receives the Gospel of Three Dimensions, revealed to that world's flat inhabitants only once every a thousand years. Transformed by a truth he is unable to conceal, he is promptly condemned as a heretic.

Banal
Revisado: 09-02-05
Not much new here, in fact it is a rehash of better read books like FutureShock and books written by Tom Peters'. The narration itself puts one in combat with the desire to nod off and the interspersed dialog from Bill himself adds little. Don't waste your time.
