Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 04-30-15
This story is very good. I enjoyed it a lot. The characters felt realistic, the plot was solid, amd the overall prose and narrative style worked well for the story. I highly recommend this book!
Now there are some flaws. Some of the details about how the hunt goes, and how there aren't multiple huge corporations vying for the egg, are weak, even arguably plot holes. I also found the whole idea somewhat masturbatory, with all the focus on nerdy retro pop-culture. This is not meant to contradict my previous paragraph. I feel everything I said above in spite of these weaknesses. But if you aren't into a non-stop ride through 80's nostalgia, you aren't into this book.
Wil Wheaton delivers a heartfelt performance which highlighted the characters well. Being a nerd from the 80's he captures the mannerisms perfectly and brings the characters to life.

Enjoyable steampunk.
Revisado: 04-09-15
This is a nice easy read (or, rather, listen) with a nice popcorn novel plot and lots of interesting characters. Its not bogged down with a bunch of moral questions or philosophy, and I like it just how it is. Let Gibson worry about morals and transhumanism. Sometimes I like that, but sometimes I just want to read a good story in a specific fiction theme. Just know it has all the fun and adventure of a Jules Verne story, but lighter. The best part about this is K.W. Jeter was one of the first (possibly "the" first) to really take a hand to the steampunk style, back in 1987, and this holds up just as well (better, really) than the modern steampunk written in the last few years since mainstream interest has picked up.

Poorly Abridged
Revisado: 04-09-15
I'm not sure why this was abridged, I don't care enough to research it. But I have read the book and listened to the audiobook, and there is simply no value in the abridged version, not as compared to the book. The story is good, as is the narrator, I wish he could have read the whole story, its not his fault. You are better off reading it, I'm sorry to say.
