Good book, questionable performance

Why did the narrator sound like she was randomly gargling cotton balls? It was definitely jarring from previous narrations and I am not sure if it was just a bad choice by the narrator or a worse choice on the editors part. otherwise a good story as usual, though I think I am going to stick to text for the next one if it's the same narrator.

Some do world building, he decided to galaxy build

An interesting listen with a different take on magic, technology, and alien society. Take a just slightly ahead modern era man, drop him into a new galaxy where slavery and magic run the world's. Then sit back and watch him try to shovel his way out. The biggest negative of the book was the narrator has a voice that can lull you to sleep if you let it.

A disney love letter meets an abused puppy.

listened to it for free, yet still feel like I overpayed. The main character is little more than a pop culture reference machine combined with a love letter to disney owned properties with the character development of an overly trusting puppy that keeps getting abused.

Half a actual book.

Prologue was painful to sit through. no middle or end to either plot line. only saving grace is the narrator and sequels exist that may make a complete story instead of this half finished one.

If this were more of a complete story, and if the prologue didn't drag on for far far far to long it wpuld be a 5 star book easily.

A few issues but a worthwhile story

bad editing in spots, poor word usage in others, and a narrator that says various words as if he has only ever seen them written, never spoken. once you get past that it is a good story.

Would you try another book from M. R. Mathias and/or Christine Padovan?

M.R Mathias definitely, Christine Padovan not a chance.

What didn’t you like about Christine Padovan’s performance?

Her performance was akin to a over caffeinated jack rabbit with the intonation of a valley girl with each sentence or fragment there of ending in inflection as if asking a question. The pacing was hard to listen to as well for the whole 5 minutes I lasted listening to this.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It was a collection of the entire series, which would have mattered more if I could tolerate the narrators voice enough to listen to it.
