A fantastic performance by Juliet Stevenson for an exceptional novel that truly deserves all the praise Virginia Woolf has bestowed upon it. Some regard Middlemarch as the greatest novel written in the English language and while I am not yet persuaded as to the absolute truth of that statement, I do now see why some are.

Un amour total, passionnel, désintéressé, tapi dans l'ombre, n'attendant rien en retour que de pouvoir le confesser. Une blessure vive, la perte d'un enfant, symbole de cet amour que le temps n'a su effacer ni entamer. L'être aimé objet d'une admiration infinie mais lucide. Une déclaration fanatique, fiévreuse, pleine de tendresse et de folie.

Une oeuvre très émouvante lue par une lectrice absolument sublime. C'est elle qui fait la différence entre un bon achat sur audible et une écoute déchirante par la force des sentiments qu'on éprouve au déroulement des minutes. Fantastique!

Worst audiobook

This is the first audiobook after two years of having been subscribed to audible that I have not been able to listen to until the end. It was abysmal. The reader was terrible and had a very distracting pronunciation, no ability whatsoever to infuse any emotion into the words, and the ridiculous added sound effects only made everything so much worse. I felt alienated from the story and ended up discarding the audiobook about a 1/4 of the way in and getting the ebook. The ebook was great!
