This was a fun book! It was great pacing and everything made sense. There was progression but it didn't make life any easier for the protagonist or his comrades.
I like how Hiral had deep set issues but he acted when he needed to. It was natural to him. All in all this was a wonderful listen.
I bought the second one by the time I was halfway through this.

In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system. It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass, deal with dragons and the unknown, for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

I had a great time with this book. It was a light hearted romp that made me laugh out loud many times. All of the characters were great. While the MC was OP he wasn't a jerk. I loved his humility.
Alot of times stories can get bogged down by the happenings but it was always amusing without trying too hard. I bought the next one and pre-ordered the third book. This stuff is great!

What did you like best about Death of a Kitchen Diva? What did you like least?
I liked the recipes and the premise of the story. I thought it was fantastic. What made me unhappy was how dense the protagonist became once the body was found. This intelligent, imaginative woman suddenly became borderline stupid. Very disappointing.
What three words best describe Tara Ochs’s performance?
I thought Tara was brilliant because I could imagine her being a smart, funny cook slash columnist.
