Not the characters I know and love :(

I went into this knowing it would be different but it’s so far off from what I expect/love/enjoy about the murderbot diaries that I couldn’t finish the last chapter. The voices don’t match the characters at all. The narrator and voice of our beloved murderbot/secunit sounded like they were trying to rush through every scene, sounding like a dude/bro with little to no emotion at all. The voice for Dr.Mensah, a middle aged women of color and distinguished academic, sounds like a teenage white girl from socal. Did the producers/cast even read the book?

I cannot recommend this version and hope they do not try to do the other books, especially not with this cast. Going to go back and listen to Kevin R. Freed and actually enjoy the story again.

Like most of Suzanne Brockmann's books this one is packed full of great characters, fun and heartwarming moments, and leaves you wanting more. Definitely worth a listen imo!

Love the interwoven story lines

This is one of my favorites by Suxanne Brockman and I was stoked to listen to it as an audio book. Not only is there some tense intrigue but also multiple romances interwoven into the plot. My favorite is actually that of the hero's neice, but the main story is also worth a listen. Highly recommend for an emmersive mystery full of fully fleshed out characters and some very sweet and tender romance.

DNF - Good narrator, terrible FMC

I only made it to chapter 10 and just couldn't handle it anymore. I've never hated a female MC for quickly. She's prejudice, disrespectful, inhumane, and all around terrible to the male MC for zero reason. She may want him but all her interactions and thoughts, and even open treatment of him indicates she thinks he's trash and not worth being treated as a human being. They may be influenced by her town and the people there but jesus have a backbone. Got tired of her high and mighty snobbery and just couldn't even root for her character development. It's a shame because I LOVE CJ Bloom and this is one of my favorite tropes but the characters need to be at least likeable for me to finish the story.

Did not meet expectations

I've been looking forward to this book for a long long time and was so excited when I came accross it. I appreciate the narration for Thomas, would have been much better if Dion Graham had done all the narration, but the other narrators were not good fits at all. The narrator for Tasha (who is supposed to be 23) sounds like a elderly woman. Sadly it definitely didn't meet my expectations. I really wanted to like Tasha but in the ned she was pretty immature and selfish. Thomas definitely isn't perfect but wow. Overall I found a great new narrator but also feel pretty dissapointed in the story and character development.

I like this premise and the narrators were able to make it worth listening through to the end. I like the side characters and the world building but the female MC is a nightmare. Refuses to take responsibility for any of her decisions, behaves stupidly and blames the results of her choices on others, assumes she knows best and takes away choice from others. I'm hopeful the other characters are better in the following books. .

Laughed sooo much, had feels, loved Cinnamon and how brave and real she was. This book was the sexy af, laugh out loud, sweet and bloody romance I needed. All the cheers to Kimberly Lemming. Cannot wait for more!!!

Hilarious, clever, with emotion and hot sexy times. Definitely recommend it and am looking forward to reading anything else I can find by Kimberly Lemming.

Loved the premise, hated the female MC.

I wanted to slap Hala multiple times. She's supposed to be this strong amazing heroine but shes really just weak, insecure, and depends on others for her validation and confidence. Uses her position and age as an excuse to doubt and insult herself and her hero. Zero ability to take responsibility for her own life and happiness. At least the ending was satisfactory. I won't be able to read or listen to this one again though and that's what makes these worth the purchase.
