Historia
As the Great War continues to take its toll, headstrong 21-year-old Emily Bryce is determined to contribute to the war effort. She is convinced by a cheeky and handsome Australian pilot that she can do more, and it is not long before she falls in love with him and accepts his proposal of marriage. When he is sent back to the front, Emily volunteers as a “land girl,” tending to the neglected grounds of a large Devonshire estate. It’s here that Emily discovers the long-forgotten journals of a medicine woman who devoted her life to her herbal garden.

I love Lady Georgiana and Molly O’Brien Sullivan great romantic historical mysteries. The Victory Garden is

Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix their own marriage. There’s a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything.

Lots of twists and turns
Revisado: 02-13-21
You need to be in a really good place mentally before you read this book. Lot of colloquial sayings. I did laugh out loud in some parts. The characters are interesting but it is very dark in other places. The book also jumps around way too much for me.

Historia
Twenty years ago in the dead of night, four seemingly random individuals pulled the ultimate heist and almost walked away with half a million dollars. But by daybreak, their plan had been shot to hell. One of them was in the hospital. One was in jail. One was dead. And one got away with it. Arden Maxwell, the daughter of the man who disappeared all those years ago - presumably with the money, after murdering his accomplice - has never reconciled with her father's abandonment of her and her sister.

Very Dark
Revisado: 08-29-20
Not sure if it was the story or the narrator but this was the darkest novel I ever heard/read from Sandra Brown...I would have liked to have guessed about the antagonist more but the surprise ending made up for the early disclosure.

Georgie's best friend, Belinda, inherits a spooky old house in Cornwall and asks Georgie to go with her to inspect the property. When they arrive, they meet Rose, a woman Belinda knew as a child when she spent her summers with her grandmother in Cornwall. Belinda never liked Rose, who has always been bossy and a bit of a bully, but when Belinda's house proves to be uninhabitable, Rose invites them to stay with her. Rose is now married to Tony Summers, Belinda's childhood crush, and lives in the lovely house on the cliffs that he has inherited.

I couldn’t connect with any of the new characters. They were not quirky enough. The story was a bit predictable. I did have to get my may out to see where all these locations were.

Historia
From Europe to the United States, opportunistic politicians have exploited the economic crisis, terrorist attacks, and an unprecedented influx of refugees to bring hateful and reactionary views from the margins of political discourse into the mainstream. They have won the votes of workers, women, gays, and Jews; turned openly xenophobic ideas into state policy; and pulled besieged centrist parties to the right. How did we get here?

I expected more information regarding the US over the issues of north western Europe. Is there any country that has handled its immigration issues with dignity? Is there a political solution to prejudice? This is a very difficult book to listen to...I hope it is better to follow and understand in print.

Not enough twists and turns
Revisado: 08-21-17
What did you like best about Camino Island? What did you like least?
There were fewer surprises than his other books. This book had fewer surprises and the lead character was not likable in any form. All I saw was a letcherous old man when he probably was younger and more attractive that one was lead to believe.
Would you recommend Camino Island to your friends? Why or why not?
No,
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes
Was Camino Island worth the listening time?
Yes

Historia
Kerra Bailey is a television journalist on the rise, and she's hot on the trail of a story guaranteed to skyrocket her career to even greater heights: an interview with the legendary Major Trapper. Twenty-five years ago, the major emerged a hero from the bombing of the Pegasus Hotel in downtown Dallas when he was photographed leading a handful of survivors out of the collapsing building. The iconic picture transformed him into a beloved national icon, in constant demand for speeches and interviews - until he suddenly dropped out of the public eye.

Not her best
Revisado: 08-21-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, Not sure it just didn't grab me like her other works.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would make Trapper slightly more likable...it is ok that he is angry and impulsive but you never see the charm and likability that he supposedly has...saying so doesn't make it so.
What three words best describe Victor Slezak’s performance?
Steady, soothing and uninventive.
Do you think Seeing Red needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Only if there was a way to show how Kerry tames Trapper...but that would not be Sandra Brown's style.

Would you consider the audio edition of Crowned and Dangerous to be better than the print version?
I want them to get married and I want WWII to begin. I keep reading to see the main characters process the war. The next step a bit of Foyles War with a dash of Dowtown Abbey. Come on Rhys...it's time.
