The author was able to shine light on a very reclusive company, with a number of flattering and unflattering stories, and some broad historical accounting.

But, there is a clear political and philosophical bias, which emerges from the first pages. While some of these biases are deserved, on the basis of the company’s actions and the history as described, there are some that stretch belief and appear to be cheap shots directed at various people involved in the company.

Persistent themes of anti-Semitism, conspiratorial motives and actions, and graft abound. On the basis of the information contained in the book, I’m not sure that the case for leveling these accusations was deserved.

The book doesn't cover any new ground in the either sales, business development or self help... but it is extremely approachable and easy to digest. David Osborn is the real deal and his words and message rings true and serves as an inspiration to make meaningful changes. Off to the races!

Great book. An interesting look at history, personnel management and the state of the modern military. Focused on the Army, this book has a slightly romanticized view of the WWII general staff and their imprint on history, but does a good job supporting the thesis. This author clearly has a command of the history and many of the under the radar movements that shaped military discourse. With luck a book that looks into the tradition of personnel management in the Navy will be written by this author.

The books flows well and is easy to understand. As it is an audiobook, names can be challenging to remember and place. The points and story vignettes are well written and stay very close to the written accounts and steer clear of hyperbole and revisionist history that is often found in books that examine impactful events like Korea and Vietnam. Deep historical knowledge or passion in this or adjacent subjects isn't necessary to enjoy the book; I suggest the book to any journeyman interested in history or business/management.

Great topic. Heavy on names and dates, but the subject matter and the contrarian aspect of the case make it one worth listening too. As with any history book, much of the interpretation of the events is in the eye of the beholder. I suggest reading it in large chunks so that the scale of the history can be enjoyed.
