Never hunger for substance in this book!
Revisado: 01-09-24
having seen the film, I wasn't sure the book would give me the same "visual" elements, however, having Katness and her mind full of all the thoughts you can't truly provide in a film let this book shine in audio format. Can't wait to start the next in the series!

Historia
Robert Iger became CEO of The Walt Disney Company in 2005, during a difficult time. Competition was more intense than ever, and technology was changing faster than at any time in the company’s history. His vision came down to three clear ideas: Recommit to the concept that quality matters, embrace technology instead of fighting it, and think bigger - think global - and turn Disney into a stronger brand in international markets.

Historia
Every new project (or job, or hobby, or company) starts out exciting and fun. Then it gets harder and less fun, until it hits a low point: really hard, and not much fun at all. And then you find yourself asking if the goal is even worth the hassle. Maybe you're in a Dip: a temporary setback that you will overcome if you keep pushing. But maybe it's really a Cul-de-Sac, which will never get better, no matter how hard you try.

Historia
Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

Historia
Now, for the first time, Seth Godin offers the core of his marketing wisdom in one compact, accessible, and timeless package. This Is Marketing shows you how to do work you're proud of, whether you're a tech start-up founder, a small-business owner, or part of a large corporation. Great marketers don't use consumers to solve their company's problem; they use marketing to solve other people's problems. Their tactics rely on empathy, connection, and emotional labor instead of attention-stealing ads. When done right, marketing seeks to make change in the world.

"What should we have for dinner?" To one degree or another, this simple question assails any creature faced with a wide choice of things to eat. Anthropologists call it the omnivore's dilemma. Choosing from among the countless potential foods nature offers, humans have had to learn what is safe, and what isn't. Today, as America confronts what can only be described as a national eating disorder, the omnivore's dilemma has returned with an atavistic vengeance.

Wake up call to the likely true cause of obesity
Revisado: 07-11-21
I have been eating differently than my family and childhood friends for about 3 decades, choosing mostly veggies, wild caught and organic food. I've noticed many differences in how we all look decades later. I also have eschewed soda pop for over 3 decades. Reading this book sheds a light for me on why we have turned out differently in our health and general condition. most of them are obese and with many of the diseases/illness this book discusses. it's eye opening view of various food access and lifestyles should be read widely. we can reverse this process, if we care to.

a chilling reminder of human impact on the planet
Revisado: 05-14-21
It seems humans don't learn much from their predecessors. A series of true tales highlighting the harrowing existence on the flatlands and plains of the USA during what led up to and into the Great Depression. What some people today take for granted was the ultimate in luxury, or didnt exist, back then. Greed raped the land and water shortages will be the next maker of war in our future.

Historia
In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept?

Even better the second time around
Revisado: 04-28-21
Malcolm does such a great job in this book of illuminating the concept that "Intuition doesn't come to an untrained mind". I'm even more impressed by this writing post the George Floyd trial and the yearlong BLM discussions that have started to truly open up more people's minds to the issues of solitary second judgement and stereotyping. Thank you, Malcolm, for such an insightful read/listen!

Today's best companies get it. From Costco to Commerce Bank, Wegmans to Whole Foods, they're becoming the ultimate value creators. They're generating every form of value that matters: emotional, experiential, social, and financial. And they're doing it for all their stakeholders. Not because it's politically correct, but because it's the only path to long-term competitive advantage.
