Historia
Growing a perfect moustache, grilling red meat, wooing a woman - who better to deliver this tutelage than the always charming, always manly Nick Offerman, best known as Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson? Combining his trademark comic voice and very real expertise in woodworking - he runs his own woodshop - Paddle Your Own Canoe features tales from Offerman's childhood in small-town Minooka, Illinois, to his theater days in Chicago, beginnings as a carpenter/actor and the hilarious and magnificent seduction of his now-wife Megan Mullally.

One of the few audiobooks I can’t complete
Revisado: 05-30-24
This book is the annoying rankings of a narcissist.
He couches this book in humble ramblings but that is a thinly vailed ruse. I can’t see how anyone who does not share his political and social leanings could enjoy this book. His words drop with disdain of anyone who thinks anything outside his box. It’s insulting at best and while funny, not funny enough to forget he hates me because we don’t agree.
A waste of time. Feels like a book written just to make the buck.

Historia
As The Last Full Measure opens, Gettysburg is past and the war advances to its third brutal year. On the Union side, the gulf between the politicians in Washington and the generals in the field yawns ever wider. Never has the cumbersome Union Army so desperately needed a decisive, hard-nosed leader. It is at this critical moment that Lincoln places Ulysses S. Grant in command - and turns the tide of war.

Extent conclusion to the war trilogy

Very well written and performed. If you liked the first two books you won’t be disappointed in this conclusion to the war trilogy by father and son.

Good info but argumentative
Revisado: 04-04-24
I think the info is great even for an experienced driver. I think it is broken down well though if experienced you need to deal with lots that you already know.
My main criticism is how much time is wasted having an argument with people not involved. The author has to regularly tell you how what other people are teaching is wrong. I don’t get it.
I wish he would have pointed to other things you might have heard and tell us why he thinks his way is better or the reasons behind it.
I really couldn’t care less how wrong he thinks everyone else is. I don’t know if this is to get people to use his coaching network over others or what.
I didn’t find anything in his book to be wrong other than one error in fact that may have been misread or something. (VIR rotates clockwise, opposite of what is stated in the book) I do think there are other ways of thinking about some things and other ideas that are legitimate.
The audiobook does assume a huge knowledge of the corners of US tracks. I don’t know if the print version has track maps. If you are going to listen to the book familiarize yourself with the following first if you don’t know them
Circuit of the Americas turns 11 and 12 (more are mentioned)
Sebring turns 1 and 10-12 and more are mentioned! (This is most important)
Laguna Seca turns 4 and 8
Road America 9,10 which is the carousel and 11 the kink.
He mentions many more in example and if you don’t know the references it doesn’t help you. The ones above are the most mentioned.

Historia
It is 1454, and for over a year King Henry VI has remained all but exiled in Windsor Castle, struck down by his illness, his eyes vacant, his mind a blank. His fiercely loyal wife and queen, Margaret of Anjou, safeguards her husband's interests, hoping that her son, Edward, will one day come to know his father. With each month that Henry is all but absent as king, Richard, the duke of York, protector of the realm, extends his influence throughout the kingdom.

Not my favorite historical fiction
Revisado: 08-02-23
This entire story is told from both sides, no bad guys, it’s an interesting concept but missing some passion for me. It’s hard to feel good for a battle’s winner or bad about the dead when the story is trying to make you feel the same about everyone.

This story wanders around and almost could have been a group of short stories. It feels a bit like I’m being taken in just because I’ve gone this far and need to finish. It’s kind of too bad.

Amazing, Compelling, Sad
Revisado: 09-20-21
This is a truly amazing story about a normal guy doing amazing things in a time of war and how war devastates even it’s heroes. This is a great listen that is a lesson in the cost of war and how individuals live through and beyond despite all. I recommend this book in the highest possible terms.

Wrong voice
Revisado: 05-29-18
This is one of my favorite book series and author. Unfortunately this audio is way off. I don’t know the voice actor but his choices here are totally wrong. His narration voice sounds very elitist and highbrow while telling a story of a hero from the lowest of the low. It’s off by a hundred miles.
Now if this is the only way you will take on Sharp then it is worth it as this is a must read series. But if you already love Sharp expect a difficult start trying to get this voice to match the story you know. Very disappointing.
