As of late Kate Carlisle, who in my opinion has been a wonderful writer, has employed very poor narrators for her audio books. This narrator's cadence was often monotonous and the different voices were hard to distinguish. Her men's voices sounded a little drugged. I would suggest reading this book rather than listening to it. The dull narration over rode the story in my opinion. I still hold Kate Carlisle in high regard and will certainly buy her audio books when she uses better narrators.

The story was fine, good even. However the narrator mispronounced the name if the city she lives in WRONG at least 30 times. Other simple words were mispronounced eg. carml for the city CarMEL, cranal for cranial, ekk for eke. It seems as if no one proofed this production before releasing it. Ironically Hawaiian words flowed off her tongue like honey. The mystery was crafted nicely and was even enjoyable when words were pronounced correctly.

The new narrator takes a wonderful authors audible presentation and takes all the life out of the characters. She is terrible at the different voices. She makes all of them seem wimpy and that really detracts from the story in a huge way. Narration is so bland that I find myself not listening at parts. This one may be better read on Kindle or in print. I will not be purchasing another Audible presentation if this narrator is specified.

The main character plays off a "Monk" like logical character giving this fresh approach life and dimension. To me the very best part of the story are the characters, Violet, Cassie and Jake who , while relatable, have more depth than usually found in cozy mysteries. The characters have unusual stories but are not kooky or comical. It is not the mystery but how the characters deal with it that makes this story intriguing.

I am a huge fan of the Abby Cooper books so I held off on reading this to fend off a possible letdown. Didn't happen. The character of Cat Cooper, and the return of Gilly was fresh and exciting. We knew Cat from other Abby Cooper books but she comes out as a new Life Coach with strength and verve. Her relationship with Irma, her first client, was kinda cool and different from what I expected. I almost feel the supporting characters are better fleshed out early on in this book. The mystery is nicely crafted and unrolled at a pace that lets you get engaged with the characters without getting bogged down in over much detail. The narration was fabulous.

I have enjoyed this entire series. I love the puzzle of course but recently I value books who introduce me to new people and allow me to get to know and like them. This is certainly one of those. Solid writing, and excellent development of the whole landscape of the story.

I have read that Lucy Lawrence is a pen name for Jenn McKinley. The story and writing were certainly up to her standards. The mystery was clever and certainly kept me guessing. It was enjoyable to get to know the reclusive Nate.

I love everything about this book. The plot develops and branches in intriguing ways consistently throughout the book. It is subtle but has a strong impact all along the way. The characters are relatable and solid. Nothing is belabored but you feel you have a deep insight into all the players and the landscape. There are no gimmicks in this book, just solid great storytelling. Amanda Ronconi is the absolute best narrator for this series.

This is a seriously crafted mystery and a relatable heroine (Posie Parker) a 1920s detective. Each of the characters are very well drawn, the locales Posie travels to are equally dimensional. I love that Posie goes from England to Italy and Egypt and each leg of the journey is a complete gem. I enjoy the 1920s backdrop but the story is so solid it could be enjoyed in a variety of decade backgrounds. Great narration. This was a novel I wanted to get the most out of every page and I will buy more audiobooks from this series. I am reminded of the novels by Elizabeth Peters featuring Amelia Peabody for the story strength , the female heroine and cleverness of the mystery.
