Historia
Janine Potter grew up on the other side of the tracks. Her mother, Nancy, struggled with just about everything—alcohol, men, money—and Janine made a pledge to herself that she would never be like her. At age nineteen, Janine met Jack Potter, the son of an oil tycoon, and never looked back. Her life became a series of cocktail parties and multi-million-dollar apartments all across the world, and rubbing elbows with celebrities. Slowly, memory of her mother faded, although the trauma never really did.

a surprise by Sparks!
Revisado: 08-17-24
Sparks has grown as an author. N longer just rather sad, patent love story, but an entwined story, with a love story to finish it off. Light weight reading, but sweet and entertaining. Worth a credit. BTW, the narration was awesome!

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

Everything! The narrator made it beautifully alive and so real!
Revisado: 05-03-24
I'm usually very wordy with reviews I choose to write, but I'm going to try to stick with a MASTERPIECE. Revolutionary War based along with thebeginning of our country, an absolutely enchanting love story based on faith and moving Biblical quotes and references to living a life, even when difficult, ultimately, based on prayer and FAITH. This was a beautiful love story, intimate with NO uncouth, distasteful love scenes. DONT MISS IT....worth so much more than the credit! one of favorites EVER, and at 70+, I've read and audited quite a few!

The Perfect Read! Don't miss this one!
Revisado: 04-30-24
If you like a good, steady read with an exciting beginning, ( spoiler!) a beautiful ending, a believable plot written with such clear description you feel you are in the book..... all this, woven around a strong faith belief in the living God, you are in for an epic boost to your spirit! I truly appreciate the wit that the author includes. I've read two of the other books in this series, and they are fantastic also. They maybe have more complex storylines, but this one is just special. The main characters are people you would love to know, especially the sheriff! Ms. Alexander is such a gifted writer. I'm working my way through her works because after listening to her works, others are so often letdowns. Now, this story isn't full of edge of the chair, gruesome or horrible scenes, but enough of life's tragic side to make us realize life is a precious gift to be cherished and lived to the fullest, while listening to our Creator's will for this life while preparing for the next one with Him.

Sweet, but mediocre . Much too long.
Revisado: 03-08-24
Sorry I used a credit. New author is sweet, but even the end of the book was a let down. No plot twists, a beginner s novel. if the gritty sex scenes hadn't been tacked on at the end, it would have made an okay adolescent novel. Just adding g the graphic sex doesn't up it to a smoking novel. I wish the author had stayed true to her more innocent style, it was appreciated.

As a lover and reader of histrorical fiction, I stunbled upon this fantastic read! Not tasteless at all, but contemporaray LJFE as it is influenced by our pasts. Its LIFE, beautiful life, sad life happening, with twists and turns. There was pathos, but there was so much LOVE between the sisters. No spite, just moving forward with thoughts of what's best for everyone. DONT MISS THIS ONE.
