Historia
When a sink hole opens up near the Australian outback town of Pintalba, it uncovers a pristine cave system. Sam joins an expedition to explore the subterranean passages as paramedic support, hoping to remain unneeded at base camp. But, when one of the cavers is injured, he must overcome paralyzing claustrophobia to dive pitch-black waters and squeeze through the bowels of the earth. Soon he will find there are fates worse than being buried alive, for in the abandoned mines and caves beneath Pintalba, there are ravenous teeth in the dark.

Enjoyable story - flat narration
Revisado: 11-19-22
I think this story would have been far more enjoyable if the narration hadn't been so flat. It was impossible to tell any character from another and absolutely no way to tell if the character was male or female. I think this is a book you should read rather than listen to.

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Great Story
Revisado: 11-13-22
John Scalzis books are generally just fun. This 4 book collection of the Old Man's War universe is a perfect example. the characters are deep enough to enjoy, the dialog is witty and entertaining and the story has enough action and direction change to keep it lively. Highly recommended

Historia
The First World War is one of history’s greatest tragedies. In this remarkable and intimate account, author G. J. Meyer draws on exhaustive research to bring to life the story of how the Great War reduced Europe’s mightiest empires to rubble, killed 20 million people, and cracked the foundations of the world we live in today. World War I is unique in the number of questions about it that remain unsettled. After more than 90 years, scholars remain divided on these questions, and it seems likely that they always will.

Should be mandatory High School reading
Revisado: 11-12-22
Being over a century removed the detail and scope of this humanity changing event is far too lost in generational memory. The wanton and ultimately pointless loss of life is minimized in its boggling statistics. There are so many lessons to be learned, not the least how rational common sense and treating others humanely and with respect are too easily lost by the machinations of a few greedy, ignorant and self-interested few. Leaders are supposed to lead a people, not sacrifice them because their pride won't let them be honest or admit their mistakes.

Nourishment for self care and cognitive growth
Revisado: 04-02-22
Gardening has always been a part of my life but I never realized the effect it has had on it. This book, thoughtfully written, well researched and supported and beautifully narrated is one that I cannot stop recommending. I know too many people affected by trauma, traumas that this book gave me an even deeper and more holistic view of. Being able to understand, on any level the pain and subsequent effects and behaviors they exhibit has given me a newfound respect for their ability to function in any level. This book also helps highlight potential ways that they might be able to grasp beautiful realities their injuries and traumas blind and handicap them towards.
I cannot praise this book enough. I hope the author sees this and knows how powerful a work she has brought onto this world.

Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

Fascinating and inciteful. Just be served with the realities of war and what happens in some people's lives makes this a worthwhile listen but the science and storytelling make the premise very compelling.

Historia
Life can kick us when we are down. In Shawn Speakman's case, he is fighting back. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2011, Speakman beat the disease as well as the massive medical debt he amassed from its treatment. He did this by publishing Unfettered, an anthology featuring short stories donated by some of the best science fiction and fantasy writers working today. Speakman has again collaborated with celebrated genre authors to publish Unfettered II.

Couldn't get passed the narration

I would have liked to know what this story was all about but the narration was abysmal. Obviously, tastes differ but there was so certain "quality" to the narrator that I found too much to take.

Good overall but not genre-changing
Revisado: 11-14-18
The story was good and the addition of some of the background information was nice. I wouldn't call it formulaic but it does follow some fairly typical convention.
If you enjoy action/adventure fiction and shark/beast thrillers, this is a fun ride. I would recommend it.
