I'd watched television programs about this murder in this book is the only place I could get a true perspective on the parent's pain and anger. I highly recommend this book and agree with other reviews where they recommend watching the documentary first.

Beautiful novel, it changed me
Revisado: 08-23-16
Where does Stand Your Ground rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I rarely take the time to write reviews but this book was one of the best I've read in a long time.
What did you like best about this story?
This novel made me totally reconsider the stories you hear about in the media. I never considered that the media could be reporting false stories with a grain of truth to manipulate potential jury pools. I will never take a media story at face value again. What happened in the novel has happened in the media accounts after all of the race related shootings in the US.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
I liked the switching between narrators to give you the feeling you are really in the mind of that person.
If you could rename Stand Your Ground, what would you call it?
I think the novel is appropriately named, I hope they do repeal that terrible law. I never considered that people could intentionally provoke a deadly encounter simple to kill someone of a race they dislike. There is too much hate in this country, you can't have laws that allow that hate to become legalized murder.

Abby Johnson is returning to Jamestown a year after escorting her cousin, Charlotte, to the same town to become a mail order bride. Abby has now made the same leap of faith - well, not quite. She has at least seen the man she has agreed to marry, Sam, the stranger she met on the train during the previous journey. The handsome Sam is now the doctor at Jamestown, but he still has a dream of making his fortune as a rancher. The good news is that Sam is just as Abby remembers him...or so she believes.

I loved this story of a Utopia where we make our decisions based on what the Master would do. Reminded me of the sacrificial life described in Kisses for Katie.

Historia
Hurlbut's Story of the Bible has its roots in the old custom of parents telling their children stories from scripture. One of those parents who kept this custom particularly alive and meaningful was Dr. Jess Lyman Hurlbut. Like many great works of literature, the stories that make up this book were told and retold innumerable times before being set down on paper.

Engaging Narrator - True to the Bible Accounts
Revisado: 03-02-15
Would you listen to Hurlbut's Story of the Bible again? Why?
Yes, it's does an excellent job of telling the Bible stories without deviating from the true Bible accounts. It takes out the more graphic parts of some stories so it's kid friendly.
What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?
His voice is very nice to listen to and he tells the stories in an engaging way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was a long book comprised of over a 100 Bible stories so it's a nice one to listen to over time.
Any additional comments?
Great investment... I bought this with Whispersync and the cost was low to get the ebook and audiobook.

Love Janette Oke but Vacation Details Dragged
Revisado: 02-17-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I love Janette Oke but I would direct a friend to other books. I was disappointed in the way this story dragged.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Fewer details of their vacation travels and more excitement. In the first book I was reminded of Christy and I loved it. This one drags until the end of the book. I hope this book will setup the next book nicely.

What made the experience of listening to Yellow Crocus the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed how love can build a new family when the one you were born into cannot be the family you need.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Yellow Crocus?
When Lisbeth made the right choice for her husband.
Have you listened to any of Bahni Turpin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Mattie
