Historia
Candy Matson was a response to all the hard-boiled detectives on the radio, like Philip Marlowe, Sam Spade, and Pat Novak, and all those other detectives who were beaten up on a regular basis. Candy, played by Natalie Park, was hard-boiled in her own way. She never compromised her femininity, but she did know how to use a gun and didn't hesitate to use it when it was necessary. She didn't take any guff from the guys - the good guys or the bad guys. With a snappy comeback, she could take anybody's head off.

Any additional comments?
Candy Matson is a SF private detective, former model, very smart and very likable. San Francisco has always been known for diversity and Candy's circle of friends and connections represents SF well. The programs always pleased listeners not only for the excellent and often humorous writing but for including SF locations. The program was on the air for 5 years but it was sustaining - no sponsor. Sponsor dollars were moving to TV. This program was not on the national NBC network. It was a West Coast NBC program. Candy was played by Natalie Park, a busy actor and part of the NBC Players. The writer and director of Candy Matson was Natalie's husband Monty Masters. Unfortunately most programs were not saved and only 11 -12 survived, to the dismay of Candy Matson fans.

Historia
Arlene Alda's own Bronx memories were a jumping-off point from which to reminisce with a nun, a police officer, an urban planner, and with Carl Reiner, Colin Powell, Maira Kalman, and many other leading artists, athletes, scientists and entrepreneurs - experiences spanning six decades. Alda then arranged these pieces of the past, the mornings on the Grand Concourse and afternoons in the halls of Bronx Science, into one great collective story, a film-like portrait of the Bronx - and of America.

Good 1st hand memories by those who lived it
Revisado: 03-14-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I recommend this book to anyone who lived in the Bronx, or had friends and relatives who lived there. The narration covers the periods by decades which means it reflects the changes over the years as well. Some narrators are well-known such as Regis Philbin and others are not. What they share in common is their life growing up in the Bronx. I did not grow up there, but nearby in Southern Westchester County. My Greek immigrant parents had many friends who lived there and we visited a lot. There's a lot of interesting information about the Bronx to be learned from these enjoyable and informative memories.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
There were a number of narrators, one for each decade and as one might expect some were better than others.

Historia
On the 78th floor of the World Trade Center’s north tower, no alarms sounded, and no one knew what had just happened at 8:46 a.m. that morning, September 11, 2001. Blind since birth, Michael couldn’t see a thing, but he could hear the sounds of shattering glass, falling debris, and terrified people flooding around him and his guide dog, Roselle. However, Roselle sat calmly beside him. In that moment, Michael chose to trust Roselle’s judgment and not to panic. They were a team....

Inspirational, Educational and a Good Read
Revisado: 11-18-15
Who was your favorite character and why?
Michael Hingson and his service dog Roselle worked together in such a way that they both used their respective strengths to complement each other in helping not just themselves but all the other people going down smoky stairs from high up in the World Trade Center.
What does Christopher Prince bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I finished listening to this audio book in two sittings and loved every minute of it. Until I was a teen-ager TV was not a part of my life. I loved radio and remember how much my imagination went to work, how I visualized what I was listening to, It is one of the reasons I enjoy audio books so much.
Any additional comments?
I am never surprised by what a dog can do and feel without any training so I really appreciated the parts of this book that taught me just how amazing they can be with training. The wonderful details of the dog's training and especially what I learned about blindness impressed me so much. The relationship they shared, knowing each other so well, trusting and loving each other made this heartwarming book one I will listen to again.

Historia
A game of ‘murders’ at Sir Hubert Handesley’s country house party becomes far too realistic for anyone’s liking. First a guest arrives with a dangerously lethal dagger and then, when the gong sounds to announce the start of the game, the victim plays dead in a very convincing manner. Chief Detective Inspector Alleyn believes the unusual dagger is a vital clue to the real-life murder, and soon he’s on the trail of a Russian secret society.

Would you consider the audio edition of BBC Radio Crimes: The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries: A Man Lay Dead & A Surfeit of Lampreys to be better than the print version?
I read a large number of the Ngaio Marsh books upon which this radio series is based. The BBC was and still is an excellent producer of mysteries on radio and I enjoyed listening to these two episodes.very much.

What made the experience of listening to Billionaire Blend the most enjoyable?
Strong storyline, very interesting characters, well-drawn and continuing growth and development of the series. One of the best series. More than 'cosy', which sometimes means a lot of implausibility, which this series avoids. #13 is excellent. I hope #14 is in the works.

one of her best
Revisado: 07-12-14
Would you listen to Espresso Shot again? Why?
The story line was compelling and never failed to keep me interested. The development of the story had many twists and turns, and slowly merged the varying plot lines to a plausible solution. I also enjoyed the passages about NYC today, since I live 3,000 miles away but grew up in southern Westchester Co and I love the city still.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Claire's character has evolved in this installment (#7) into a more professional amateur detective and her persona is even more interesting.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I definitely wanted to listen in one sitting and having a bad chest cold made that almost possible. I'll definitely listen again.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book.
