Historia
In Conan and the Emerald Lotus, the seeds of a deadly plant grant sorcerers immense power, but turn its users into inhuman killers. In the exclusive, long-awaited sequel Conan and the Living Plague, a Shemite wizard seeks to create a serum to use as a lethal weapon. Instead he unleashes a hideous monster on the city of Dulcine. Hired to loot the city of its treasures, Conan and his fellows in the mercenary troop find themselves trapped in the depths of the city’s keep. To escape, they must defeat the creature, its undead followers, then face Lovecraftian horrors beyond mortal comprehension.

One of the best of the Conan Pastiche Efforts
Revisado: 04-09-25
Hocking does a great job of bring us another two Conan yarns, and his writing is far better than the lame swill written by L. Sprague de Camp. Excellent reading.

Historia
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Well written, well read!
Revisado: 02-24-25
Butcher is a great reader with a lively style. Now, we need the next novel, where hopefully we hear about Rudolph, killer of Karen Murphy, sentenced for her murder and placed into a prison where he will become years of entertainment for the population.

Magician and a mawkish female partner don't mix
Revisado: 12-10-24
The protagonist, Peter weaves stage illusion and real magic in a fairly good mystery. Unfortunately he saddles himself with a clinging insecure whiner of a girlfriend, Liza. Most authors would craft a tragic demise for this albatross of a character, but if this series continues it looks like she's going to be inflicted on readers indefinitely. However, this is one reader who'll dodge the problem. I'm to done.

Warlock Holmes may have demons in his head, but now, Dr. John Watson has a mummy in his bloodstream. Specifically that of the sorcerer Xantharaxes, who, when shredded and dissolved in an eight percent solution, results in some extremely odd but useful prophetic dreams. There's also the small matter of Watson falling for yet another damsel du jour and Warlock deciding that his companion needs some domestic bliss....

Historia
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Great job of reading, but a lame story
Revisado: 03-21-24
Expeditionary Force, this isn't. Some overtones of The Dresden Files, but the writing isn't remotely as good as Jim Butcher's. I won't be buying any more books in the Convergence series.

The performance was excellent. The story was awful.
Revisado: 12-15-23
This plodding fiasco of laughable courtly manners trundles sleepily along like an ox cart over an overlong muddy road. Hopefully this series ends here, and Me. Butcher gets back to something interesting like the Dresden Files. The reading is first class. Alas, the story isn't. A waste of an audible credit.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

A well paced dragon yarn, with a few caveats
Revisado: 11-26-23
A great story, with a few caveats. There's a plethora of salacious sessions of a teen babe boinking her teen boyfriend . (D. H. Lawrence, Rebecca Yarros ain't). On the audible app just skip to end of section when engulfed in slobber sex. You won't miss anything of import. Unless reading about teenagers having sex is your thing, of course. Also, chapters start with an "An excerpt from..." McGuffin. Pure padding. To avoid these annoying breaks in narrative, hit the audible 30 second advance.
The reading is sometimes laughably histrionic, but overall, reasonably good. Rebecca Soler might benefit from some Meisner acting classes, or maybe disc jockey experience.
My suggestion would be to •read• this book or get it on kindle. However, if you want to enjoy a story while also knitting, repairing a lawn mower, or driving from Maine to Florida, the audiobook is worth the investment (as long as you avoid distracted driving by not skipping the wonky bits, lol!)

It does not take much to convince Frank and Joe to be extras in the new zombie movie that's filming in Bayport. Not only do they get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the magic that goes into making horror movies, but they also get to wear freakishly realistic zombie makeup that makes them look like the walking dead! But the horror gets a little too real when disaster hits the scene.
