Historia
It is hard to overstate the role that John Milton played in the historical, political, and literary controversies of 17th-century England; his writings and very life challenged the status quo. This fascinating new biography is divided into two parts. The first separates the man from the myth, and elucidates the complicated details of Milton's life from his early years as a literary artist uncertain of his destiny, through his work as a propagandist for the Cromwellian republic, to his rewriting of the Old Testament story of the Fall.

Well done
Revisado: 04-06-24
The first part is easy and interesting to listen to, especially if you're reading Paradise Lost at the same time. The second part is an academic deep-dive that is a lot to wade through, but the author's common sense conclusion demonstrates how detached from reality moden academia has become.

Historia
Plato was the first great philosopher of the West to organize and record the issues and questions that define philosophy. A student of Socrates, Plato preserved the teachings of his mentor in many famous "dialogues" that deal with classic issues like law and justice, perception and reality, death and the soul, mind and body, reason and passion, and the nature of love.

Everything we now know about the universe - from the behavior of quarks to the birth of galaxies - has come from people who've been willing to ponder the unanswerable. And with the advent of modern science, great minds have turned to testing and experimentation rather than mere thought as a way of grappling with some of the universe's most vexing dilemmas. So what is our latest picture of some of the most inexplicable features of the universe? What still remains to be uncovered and explored by today's scientists?

Tyson does an excellent job of relating the fascinating mystery of existence to the average mind. He keeps an open mind to the possibilities, while opening his listeners mind to the mind-blowing concepts that men have discovered. Everyone should listen to this!

Not quite Sherlock Holmes
Revisado: 06-24-22
I'll a good mystery anytime, but I just came off of the entire Sherlock Holmes collection, and Christie just isn't at the same level. The reader does fairly well with the roles, but his quiet voice makes me sleepy.
