Historia
Lily Bradley is a respected psychotherapist married to a distinguished professor. They live in a dream house with their two children in close-knit Story Cove. Lily lives a well-ordered life. Or so it seems. As a therapist, she knows everyone keeps things hidden. Even her. Then sensual and free-spirited Arwen Harper rolls into town in her hand-painted VW van, her sixteen-year-old son riding shotgun. Overnight, Story Cove’s secrets are no longer safe. Because Arwen might know her new neighbors better than they know themselves.

I stumbled upon this book by coincidence. All interesting so I thought I’d give it a shot. It was more than interesting. It was captivating from the moment I started listening. It is full of twists and turns you will not see right up until the end.

Historia
Of all of John Irving's books, this is the one that lends itself best to audio. In print, Owen Meany's dialogue is set in capital letters; for this production, Irving himself selected Joe Barrett to deliver Meany's difficult voice as intended. In the summer of 1953, two 11-year-old boys – best friends – are playing in a Little League baseball game in Gravesend, New Hampshire. One of the boys hits a foul ball that kills the other boy's mother. The boy who hits the ball doesn't believe in accidents; Owen Meany believes he is God's instrument. What happens to Owen after that 1953 foul ball is extraordinary and terrifying.

Why did I wait so long to read this book
Revisado: 12-21-17
I had been told about this amazing book over 20 years ago and always said I would get to it. I put it off and on a whim decided this would be my next book on audible. It is truly a classic. And with out spoiling anything I highly recommend that when the listener is finished listening to the book to listen to the final 25 minutes which is an interview with John Irving.

Historia
The Christmas season offers little cheer for Eileen Dunlop, an unassuming yet disturbed young woman trapped between her role as her alcoholic father's caretaker in a home whose squalor is the talk of the neighborhood and a day job as a secretary at the boys' prison, filled with its own quotidian horrors. Consumed by resentment and self-loathing, Eileen tempers her dreary days with perverse fantasies and dreams of escaping to the big city.

Ponyboy can count on his brothers. And on his friends. But not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up "greasers" like Ponyboy. At least he knows what to expect, until the night someone takes things too far.

That was so deep and just WOW.
Revisado: 02-07-17
This book was just so good. The first two chapters I felt were a bit boring but after that it takes off. There is brotherly love though out the book. It becomes shocking and sad at some points but it ties up in the end. It really makes you think about how you look at people and the way we judge a person base on who they hang out with and how they look and act. There is some violence in this book. I would recommend this to teens and up. No matter what kinda of person you are I think you might like this. I am the kinda person that likes fictional stories so I didn't think I would like it but I did.

Historia
For Jason, entering the seventh grade is like walking into a dangerous new world. Now that he’s in junior high school, he’s a small fish in a big pond stocked full of ninth-graders. It’s so scary that he won’t even go to the bathroom if there’s a ninth-grader in there - no matter how badly he has to go! But it isn’t all bad. He’s working on a model space station in shop class, and he’s beginning to notice things he never paid attention to before, like body hair - and girls. Especially one girl: The beautiful, hair-flicking cheerleader Debbie Breen.

A little racist
Revisado: 07-14-16
We listened to this book on a family car trip. While the story is overall good for the middle school age group and adults certainly can relate to what the main character goes through, it should be noted that even for a book written in the early 1980's there was a lot of semi racist remarks or statements. Also a lot of not very feminist friendly terms and ideas are present. I think the book has merit but I think it needs to be explained to kids that the time book was written is different from now.

Historia
From the outrageously filthy and oddly innocent comedienne and star of the powerful 2015 film I Smile Back Sarah Silverman comes a memoir—her first book—that is at once shockingly personal, surprisingly poignant, and still pee-in-your-pants funny. If you like Sarah's television show The Sarah Silverman Program, or memoirs such as Chelsea Handler's Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea and Artie Lange's Too Fat to Fish, you'll love The Bedwetter.

Historia
Ever since he was small, John Robison had longed to connect with other people, but by the time he was a teenager, his odd habits, an inclination to blurt out non sequiturs, avoid eye contact, dismantle radios, and dig five-foot holes, had earned him the label "social deviant". No guidance came from his mother or his father. It was no wonder he gravitated to machines, which could, at least, be counted on.

What a great and informative book
Revisado: 09-10-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Look Me in the Eye to be better than the print version?
I think they are both great.. The audio version does give it a little more voice.
What does Mark Deakins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The inflection in his voice really helped you identify with the author. I have heard interviews with the author and Mark did a great job capturing Mr. Robison words.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book really allows the reader into e complicated mind of aspergians. I really felt like I had a better understanding of the unique mind of a person with aspergers.
