Very Suspenseful

Twists and turns until the last moment. I really enjoyed my six hour drive because I had this story yo listen to!

Not Plausible and Ridiculous at Times

Just wanted it to end. All attempts at the twists and turns are ridiculously unbelievable, and even as a non-lawyer I knew that the procedures could not be possible. The narrator's voice was hard to listen to for so many hours.

What made the experience of listening to Paranoia the most enjoyable?

I wanted to turn it off becasue it was too suspensfull and fast forward to see what happened and listen to every word. How's that for a good book? The character is not too admirable, but listening to him weave his way through each cliff-hanging interaction kept me listening. I walked even further inthe mornings because I didn't want to stop listening!

Are You Kidding Me?

I will start with I LOVED Stephen Hunter's earlier work. This book, however it total drivel. The narration, on top of an uninteresting plot, shallow characters, horrible narration, (oh, did I say terrible narration twice??)is a complete waste of hours on this earth. Don't bother, especially if you loved his earlier work. It is a terrible thing to see an author go downhill. Terrible. Didn't even finish it, even though I had no other books on my IPOD. I walked without listening to anything in stead of listen to the rest of this book. Now, THAT tells you something.

Well Written and Narrated

I kept wanting to love this book because it is so well-written and the narration is excellent; however, the characters are are woefully depressing and I like a little more story line. I found myself bored near the end. I didn't want to hear their sad stories anymore.

Two star story and one star for research

Every time I turned my ipod back on, I hoped this story would get better. It is dark and brooding,to the point of hopelessness. There are no redeeming characters, even Dave, and plenty of cruel, demented ones who should have been left under their rock. I have heard all the books in this series and wish I hadn't wasted my time and filled my head with the terrible images and characters in this book. Clearly, Burke spent time researching history for this book, though he forces some of the history into the story and derails the flow. I will try listening to one more in the future, but if it is black and dis-jointed like this one, I will say good-bye to Dave.

Abridged would have been better

Suspenseful- kept my interest until the middle where it became repetitious in plot and character development. I learned some interesting facts about investigation work, computers and child abuse. The resolution came suddenly, in the last five minutes, and all too neatly tied up in a bow. Still, kept me walking at a great pace when listening on my hikes.

DO NOT waste your money or your time. This book might have been written by a junior high student (the simplistic plot) in conjunction with a very aged man (pathetic, trite cliches and archaic behaviors). Very bad book. Woof. The narrator could not differentiate his voice and that added to the confusion.
