Sooooo Repeatative
Revisado: 03-02-24
At first I thought there was a problem with the recording because I know I’d heard the exact same things previously. I felt this way as early as chapter 2. There is some interesting content, but it could be condensed into 1/10 of the pages. I ended up finishing the rest of the audiobook at 2x speed. Even then, it was still frustrating to hear the constant repetitions.
I do not recommend this book.

Provides perspective on how to think about big data
Revisado: 05-29-20
Very well written. Provides perspective on how to think about big data in several ways. It provides valuable insights for technical and business minded people. Will get you thinking about new ways to make use of data you have and even data you monthly not have thought about making use of.
It also goes into some of the future ethical and legal issues yet to be dealt with, and proposals to deal with those issues.
The book uses very engaging examples from both ancient history and present technological advances. And the presenter also does a great job of keeping the audio book listener engaged as well.

Average book. Absolutely terrible English.
Revisado: 05-25-20
The book was average regarding the topic. Some interesting and somewhat useful material. Particularly for beginners.
However, while the authors might know the subject ok, and how to market their book, one important marketing skill they completely fail on is to write using proper English. I find nothing more annoying than reading (listening to) something written in improper English. Certain chapters were written in such bad English language and grammar, that I had to stop several times. And especially if English is not your native language, hire a good editor before publishing anything.
I wanted to look up the authors to see their background and could not find anything other than the books they’ve written. So their authority on the subject is also suspect.

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

I read this because I’d seen a strong recommendation from Bill Gates. It’s a much more important health topic than people realize. Maybe more important than even diet & exercise. This book gives excellent explanations of how and why and practical recommendations.

Too much repetition
Revisado: 03-30-20
The first couple chapters were valuable. Most of the rest had a lot of repetition that could have been heavily condensed.
I think the author did they intentionally in case you wanted to just skip to certain sections. Doesn’t lend itself well to an audiobook.

Fascinating, powerful and many applications
Revisado: 01-04-18
Fascinating book. The title is very appropriate for the book. For good or bad, habits can be extremely powerful. The book describes many different scenarios and aspects of habits - psychology and physiology, applications in sports and business, addictions, and everyday behaviors. Explains how habits are created and formed. Make sure that you also read or listen to the appendix that provides a framework for how to adjust behaviors that you might want to change.
