Would you consider the audio edition of The Walls of Lemuria: A Purge of Babylon Novel to be better than the print version?

Well, I am not certain I would compare the two formats to begin with. I first read the book in print form, and liked being able to revisit the story where I wanted to, to reread a passage, and move at my own pace. The audiobook gives an entire new take on things, by turning print into performance. As such, both formats have merit. Personally, I prefer print. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the audio format, and when I was listening to the book on the way home from work, smiled when I hit the rush hour traffic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Keo! This book really served to introduce Keo to readers, and to give us an idea of who he is, his background, strengths, etc. While there are others, to be sure, the reader is certain to find Keo's unique personality to be a great addition to this evolving series.

Which scene was your favorite?

I cannot recall one scene that stood out among the rest. Sam keeps the story consistent, and there are certainly no dull spots in the book. I would say that if you find one scene to be your favorite, keep reading-- you will likely change your mind very soon!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not have an extreme reaction, no, but I did find myself getting far less sleep at night because I could not put the book down. So, I had the opposite reaction-- fatigue from reading too much!

Any additional comments?

I have been a fan from the beginning of this series, and while this may bias my opinion, I will offer it anyway: this is a great series, and I am confident you will enjoy it. The author keeps the plot moving by never allowing the characters to stagnate. If you recall from book one, the characters find a great shelter, but end up leaving. I found myself wondering several times why the author decided to keep the characters on the move, but eventually realized that it keeps the story unique, and gives us far more chances to see the team do what they do best: survive in a dangerous world!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would highly recommend this audiobook-- and have, many times. Whether experienced in print or in audio format, I have found this book to be captivating. There are so many different elements that contribute to a well-developed plot, that you can picture yourself immersed in the setting, where civilization is falling apart, and mankind is faced with two new foes: ourselves, and a (kind of) cross between zombies and vampires.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Purge of Babylon: A Novel of Survival?

I like a novels that keep me guessing, and keep the plot fresh. With any novel of suspense, there seems to be the temptation to recycle literary devices, rehash settings, or employ all too predictable behaviors. Sam does a brilliant job of keeping you guessing, and certainly makes an effort not to repeat the elements that have already been used.

What does Adam Danoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I felt Adam's performance was quite enjoyable. I first read this book in print, and when I read any book, I *read* it-- I never try to imagine how different characters sound, what their inflections or intonations might be. Adam enhanced the experience by providing that element that is consistently missing from, at least in my own case, reading the book on one's own.

If you could rename The Purge of Babylon: A Novel of Survival, what would you call it?

I have asked myself this question before, and in the case of this novel, I would not actually rename it. As you progress in the series, it is entirely possible that you may not recognize the nouns in the title-- personally, I had to look up what some of those words were! However, I also feel that the title alone assists in conveying what one might be able to expect in the text. To answer the question, I would not rename the book-- Sam clearly knows what he is doing, and where he is going with the story, and I find no reason to suggest a revised title.

Any additional comments?

If you are at all unsure about beginning this series, at least read the first book. Within the first thirty pages, I was hooked. If you find that you do not like this book, then perhaps the series might not be a good fit. However, if you enjoyed it as much as I did, then brace yourself-- it only gets better!

What did you love best about The Gates of Byzantium?

The first book in this series started a strong endeavor in world building, while never deviating from the importance of character development. Gates of Byzantium continued on the path of creating a complex, in-depth exploration into a brilliant conceptualization of a post-apocolypic zombie world.

What other book might you compare The Gates of Byzantium to and why?

I would hesitate to compare this book to others. Sam Sisavath has done a phenomenal job of creating an original story, and I believe he has succeeded to the degree of crafting a unique saga that, while comparable to elements of other books, is best considered in its own context.

Which character – as performed by Adam Danoff – was your favorite?

I was pleased with Adam's performance with all of the characters, and really could not single one out as a favorite.

Who was the most memorable character of The Gates of Byzantium and why?

As with character performance, I did not feel one character was more memorable than the rest-- each character contributes a unique facet to the overall story.

Any additional comments?

While there are a number of "zombie books" out there, I would highly recommend this series for its novel take upon the genre. You will find that the plot never dulls as you progress through the story arc, and while some events are predictable, each book will surprise you with a new twist.
