Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I enjoyed his book.
Revisado: 07-14-23
This is a very enjoyable book. Octopuses are very intelligent and people are very adept at complicating their lives in the name of doing the right thing. The story was well told from differing points of view which arrived at a satisfying ending.

Her name says it all. I have read this story thrice and listened to it twice. Each time has been like the first time in its generation of all the feelings. I know I will read/listen to this novella (and the series) again whenever I need comfort. Some folks have comfort food, I have comfort Authors and Readers

Historia
Elementary school teacher Jacqueline "Jacks" Morales's marriage was far from perfect, but even in its ups and downs it was predictable, familiar. Or at least she thought it was...until two police officers showed up at her door with devastating news. Her husband of eight years, the one who should have been on a business trip to Kansas, had suffered a fatal car accident in Hawaii. And he wasn't alone.

Wrong Audience
Revisado: 05-07-19
Ms. Rosenberg's voice is very young sounding and did not bestow I.Q. points on the two main female characters. Both of them did amazingly stupid things for "love" (read self interest). Neither were very bright, both had no clue about cause and effect, nor ever heard of self preservation.
1. If you start your marriage based on a lie of omission, don't be surprised if it causes your partner to feel betrayed.
2. If you agree to marry someone, don't feel that you can freely upgrade at any time without repercussions.
3. You are prey, deal with it.

A Tad Sad
Revisado: 07-29-18
Parts were very good. But, I find it sad if I'm the one internally yelling the answers to what Gideon is confused about. He's the one who is supposed to be the detective.
I loved Emily.
I found that I liked reading the print version much better than the audio version. For me, the reader was way to happy voiced in places that shouldn't have been - unless one is gloating.

Historia
Leaving one widow behind is unfortunate. Leaving three widows behind is just plain despicable. Oil heiress Kate Steele knew her not-so-dearly departed husband was a con man, but she's shocked that Conrad racked up two more wives without divorcing her first. The only remnant of their miserable marriage she plans to keep is their lakeside cabin in Bootleg, Texas. Unfortunately, she's not the only woman with that idea.

Historia
If your funny older sister were the former deputy chief of staff to President Barack Obama, her behind-the-scenes political memoir would sound something like this. Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? is an intimate and admiring portrait of a president, a candid book of advice for young women, and a promising debut from a savvy political star.

Not what I thought
Revisado: 07-25-17
I would have preferred if the book were written in a linear style. It is more a stream of consciousness skipping around a timeline being distracted by anything shiny. It feels like it was written to cash in on a unique job without really having anything with depth to say. Or the depth was there but not mentioned.

Historia
Detective Reed Mattox, just three months removed from the death of his partner, has turned invisibility into an art form. Switching to the K-9, taking over the graveyard shift, moving to a farmhouse miles outside of Columbus - his every move has become predicated on putting as much distance between himself and the outside world as possible. That distance is shattered, though, when bodies begin turning up in The Bottoms, the poverty-stricken section of town he is assigned to patrol.

Very good
Revisado: 11-10-16
I liked how the group gelled. First impressions were not cast in cement. So have written the book is Islam bashing. I don't see it. The conflict was presented from both viewpoints. Since it involved terrorists, their viewpoint is different and hostile. The Iraqi men loved their wives and families. They had their reasons for doing what they did. Some were psychopaths, but that happens in any conflict since conflicts can draw psychopaths.
I liked the chemistry and am looking forward to whatever they write next.

Favorite main characters in order: Dog, Ben, Jack. Heroine? Not heroic. Let's just say I now understand TSTL. She didn't have any common sense - what. so. ever. I skipped the obligatory sex scenes since I know how it's done and a play by play report is only worthwhile in sports.
