The Culmination of an Era
Revisado: 05-29-19
This is one of my favorites of the Dresden Files, following Death Masks and Dead Beat, and it shows. The little plot of Grave Peril has been building to a conclusion that had to be big, and this book delivers. It also shows the humanity of it's cast, the badassedness of the female characters, and the stakes Harry must face. This book changes everything we think we know about the Dresden Files.

Historia
After discovering just how filled with magic, intrigue, and adventure the parahuman world of being an undead American can be, Fredrick Frankford Fletcher did exactly what was expected - he became a certified parahuman accountant. Myths and legends, as it turns out, are not so great at taking appropriate deductions and keeping their receipts, and Fred is more than happy to return to a life others view as woefully dull, expanding his accounting business to cater to various monsters.

Just perfect for the vampire fan
Revisado: 04-17-19
When I first started the first book of the series, I was afraid that the characters would be as dry and bland as Fred, but I was delighted with a plethora of fantastic vibrant characters. The second book continues that, bringing in new characters, new struggles, and new tax forms for Fred to finish. The ending gives a bigger and more mysterious reveal than the last book, opening some new interesting avenues for the story to go. I'm excited to see where the story goes next!

Best Crime Fantasy Book Ever!
Revisado: 01-31-19
I love fantasy. I love crime stories. And I love intrigue and developed characters. This is the perfect book for those who love to listen about the adventures of rogues and thieves, about the small triumphing over those in power, using skill and wit alone. To Kaz and his crew, I can only say that while this was a perfect way to end their story, I will miss them sorely and wish that their tale hadn't been finished.

Historia
An all-new Dresden Files story headlines this urban fantasy short story collection starring the Windy City's favorite wizard. From the Wild West to the bleachers at Wrigley Field, humans, zombies, incubi, and even fey royalty appear, ready to blur the line between friend and foe. In the never-before-published "Zoo Day", Harry treads new ground as a dad, while fan-favorite characters Molly Carpenter, his onetime apprentice, White Council Warden Anastasia Luccio, and even Bigfoot stalk through the pages of more classic tales.

Amazing stories from the Dresden Universe
Revisado: 10-03-18
i was a little surprised that the three Bigfoot stories were also included in this book, but mostly I was stunned to silence at the heart and courage of the other characters' tales featured in this book. Molly, Luccio, Mouse, Butters, and tiny Maggie all have a part in this, and all of them are wonderful. I'm excited to see what is next in store for Harry!
I recommend reading/listening to this after Skin Game.

Historia
When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City's local authorities what they're dealing with. Only it's worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain - paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where's she's joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It's a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses "tiger" too strongly to ignore it.

After several books of sex, here is the climax
Revisado: 09-28-18
Hamilton has a tendancy to build up false tension, talk when you should fight, and replace hot sex for climax. In this book, which might be the best since Obsidian Butterfly, we get the tension buildup that Hamilton has teased that she could do, as well as a satisfying villain, intense action scenes, intriging new characters, and yes, some very hot sex. There is also a return of Edward, Olaf, and Bernardo, our three favorite assassin turned federal marshals.
If you don't enjoy the sex of the previous books, this is still a pleasure to listen to.

Good, but the audible version has a problem
Revisado: 03-30-18
in the middle of chapter 13, there is a gap of a few minutes cut out in a jarring way that is obviously an error. I hope it is only my version that had this. Obviously the rest of the book is wonderful and would be perfect except for this

Historia
I watched in horror as dark magic sprang from my hand faster than an imp after your socks. I didn't know my name, let alone that I had such power. The man was dead. I panicked. I ran. How was I to know I was a dark magic enforcer, tasked with keeping magic hidden from the world? Yeah, total noob move, I know. But my memory is returning, and the Hidden have given me 24 hours to make amends. Cover it up. Finish the job I was given, or else. Failure isn't an option.

Boring and Repetitive.
Revisado: 03-16-18
It was an interesting concept, but sacrificed tension for explanations that were repetitive and long and boring. The audible version doesn't help since the reader had a dry and bland tone. I knew I went wrong when it literally repeated sentences.

A well done modern fantasy
Revisado: 08-31-17
Harry Dresden is an enjoyable character, albeit a tad sexist, though it's acknowledged in the story. While the female characters in this are also done in a less than modern style, it's done respectfully, which I think a lot of readers forget to notice.
This first book of a long series is a good starting point and while Marsters (the audible narrator) does a very good and captivating performance, he doesn't have the acting strength to pull off the sultry sexy female voices in this novel.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

A brilliantly written interpretation of a few myths
Revisado: 08-26-17
I loved this. Still I love it. Neil Gaiman's version of the myths ring truer than most others I have read, and is certainly more entertaining. He breathes into these stories and gives the gods and mortals life and spirit unlike any I have ever felt before. I am pained that this doesn't hold a complete collection of the tales from poems written down. And I'm even more recourse that many of the stories are now lost. But if you call yourself trained in the bardic tradition of storytelling or just wish for a good read (or in my case a workshift's amount of tales to listen to) I'd pick this up.
