Horrible audio quality
Revisado: 11-01-05
The audio on this is terrible. Listening to it is actually painful--it's a short book; you're better off just reading it.

Last summer, The New Yorker published chef Anthony Bourdain's shocking, "Don't Eat Before Reading This." Now, the author uses the same "take-no-prisoners" attitude in his deliciously funny and shockingly delectable audiobook, sure to delight gourmands and philistines alike.

I'll never eat out again
Revisado: 11-01-05
Thoroughly entertaining nonfiction. I didn't care for the author; I found him to be very arrogant, but he does tell a good story. This book was a great insight into the restaurant business, and any one that has ever waitressed at a nice place will appreciate it. He tells it like it is.

Very enjoyable.
Revisado: 11-01-05
Though it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat, and I felt the characters could have been a bit more developed, I still found this to be an entertaining and well written book. There were several plot twists that were an unexpected surprise, but for an espionage book, it was still a bit mild.

Historia
This novel by Carl Hiaasen, author of Tourist Season and Native Tongue, begins as most thrillers do, with a killing. But this is no everyday, hum-drum, garden variety killing. Our hero, Nick Stranahan, a 42-year-old private investigator who has killed five men and been married five times, skewers his attacker's aorta with the razor-sharp bill of a stuffed marlin.

Another excellent read!
Revisado: 11-01-05
Got a long road trip--take this a long to while away the miles. Hiasson once again manages to spin an enjoyable and entertaining yarn with a wild bunch of characters. You just never know what kind of whacky behavior one of them will display during the course of the story, or even in what direction the story will go. Intellectuals would probably look down their noses at this writing, but it is fun, light hearted, and brilliant. I can only imagine what the author must be like in real life--he really does come up with some warped ideas!

Not one of his better efforts.
Revisado: 11-01-05
Unfortunately, Patterson has gone the way of many 'made' writers and is just cranking the books out according to formula. Lack of effort shows in this book--predictable, we've seen it before, and I suspect we will see it again......this will most likely be my last Patterson purchase. (though nothing was as bad as "The Jester")

A twisted tale of murder in the world of big-stakes bass fishing tournaments. Filled with ex-wives, evangelists, and an armed pit-bull, this is a story that could only be concocted by Carl Hiaasen, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, New York Times best-selling author, and czar of Florida noir fiction.

The divers, realizing the momentousness of their discovery, began probing the mystery. Over the next six years, they became expert and well-traveled researchers, taught themselves German, hunted for clues in Germany, and constructed theories corrective of the history books, all in an effort to identify this sunken U-boat and its crew.

Fascinating.
Revisado: 11-01-05
Whether you dive or not, you will find this book to be thoroughly fascinating and engrossing. This book puts you with the divers and allows you to experience the thrills, disappointments and fears they experience with each dive and discovery. At times it drags a bit, but overall, it is well done, and gives a nondiver a decent education into the thrills and hazards of the sport, (or in this case, passion). If you know a diver, this is a must read.

Revisado: 10-31-05
This was my first exposure to the author, and I am sorry I didn't discover him and all his whacky characters sooner. This is light hearted entertainment that will make you laugh out loud. Though the characters are purposely preposterous, they are unique, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, that would describe the entire book. I promise you will be entertained!

Historia
This intensely dramatic and moving novel has remained a best-selling classic since it was first published in 1852. The slaves Eliza and George make a desperate bid to escape to Canada, while Uncle Tom is sold to two successive and very different owners. Abraham Lincoln himself acknowledged the role played by this seminal text in the Civil War, the aim of which was (in part) to emancipate the slaves of the southern states.
