Boring
Revisado: 01-22-24
Audible recommend this after East of Eden.
For whom the bell tolls is not in the same league as east of Eden. All the characters are one dimensional and the whole plot is super boring

Historia
This sprawling and often brutal novel, set in the rich farmlands of California's Salinas Valley, follows the intertwined destinies of two families - the Trasks and the Hamiltons - whose generations helplessly reenact the fall of Adam and Eve and the poisonous rivalry of Cain and Abel.

Excellent

Great characters. Samuel, his wife and the house keeper are my favourite.
The faked pigeon really got my mind boggling

Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - why the world's population is increasing; how many young women go to school; how many of us live in poverty - we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

His students talk about “us in 1st world and them in 3. world”
I remember that paradigm from my childhood..

Boilerplate story, great listen
Revisado: 07-17-23
This story was kind of a “god of war” cliche.
Lots of action, little depth.
However I listen to anything read by Adam sims.
