Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended this book to several friends. Specifically I recommended it to my teacher friends who would benefit from the many educational insights. This is not only a book to help you with your personal life, but one that can assist with your work place.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Brain Rules?

The studies and touching stories told brought the book to life. I was particularly moved by the stories Medina told of his mother. These helped make the book inspirational as well as educational.

What about John J. Medina’s performance did you like?

Fun, light and engaging, Medina's passion is evident in his work as well as his presentation.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this book one chapter a day and did it in a little over a week. It gave me time to take note, process and digest on my learning.

Any additional comments?

Anyone with a passing interest in neuroscience can't pass this one up.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Brian Tracy keeps a nice calm pace yet offers little variety to his voice. The humour he writes into his text is lost through his reading. It would be hard to image him doing seminars and presentations in the same way and remain successful as a public speaker. There is nothing particularly distracting about his reading, but it does lack variety allowing you to drift off at times if you do not remain focussed.

Any additional comments?

It does not provide ways to be disciplined so much as explain how being disciplined can change your life. This book is best read as a refresher of what you have learned in previous self-help texts. It offers little in the way of new material, but encourages you to persist with the strategies and skills you may already have. If I was new to the self-help regime I would want more than just a prescriptive text that tells me what to do, something this text tends towards. This book does not always go into the "why," which means that people listening would not necessarily understand the purpose of some of his suggestions or have the ability to be creative with those strategies. It is worth a listen, but not as a first time reader of self-help, or if you are looking for new insight. It works as a book to keep you motivated and focussed.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is one that will be recommended to anyone and everyone I think holds any interest in fantasy, mystery, superheroes, horror or just the peculiar and interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of American Gods?

Most mystery novels lack the ability to be read more than once. Not so with this book. There is so much that goes into this book, knowing the end would not distract from the powerful imagery, depth of exploration into myth, and the gripping character relationships. So much happens in this book that one listen would not be enough. I genuinely loved every moment of this well told story.

What about Neil Gaiman and George Guidall ’s performance did you like?

The reading is spot on that provides the right pacing for the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Remove your shoes, this theatre is sacred ground.

What made the experience of listening to Star Trek, The Next Generation the most enjoyable?

John de Lancie is engaging as he reads this fascinating exploration into the Q continuum. He provides more than Q's whimsical charm demonstrating his ability to build dramatic tension, touching character moments, as well as suspense throughout the book. While this is only a short story, Peter David offers a compelling Next Generation tale that finds links to Original Trek through the fan favourite character Trelane. Dealing with alternate realities is difficult enough, but David goes further and offers multiple alternate realities collapsing into one. David demonstrates a deep knowledge of the Star Trek universe writing characters and events that are faithful to the television series. This is a great addition to the Star Trek universe.
