Historia
The four fires in this story are passion, religion, warfare, and fire itself. While there are many more fires that drive the human spirit, love being perhaps the brightest flame of all, it is these four that have moulded us most as Australian people. The four fires give us our sense of place and, for better or for worse, shape our national character.

Historia
The world's toughest car race. Twenty-one days of searing heat and rock-hard desert tracks; of blowouts and breakdowns; of subterfuge and sabotage. Ten thousand miles of dust and glory. Driving at breakneck speed over Australia's roughest roads and through the most appalling conditions imaginable, six competitors break free from the pack and fight for the lead, gradually finding themselves entangled in a web of deceit, betrayal and danger. Dust and Glory is best-selling author Evan Green's stirring account of the most grueling race of them all.

Nothing like a good race book.
Revisado: 11-01-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Dust and Glory to be better than the print version?
Humphrey Bower, once again, brings the characters to life with his amazing voice. For this reason, the audio book would be better than reading the book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Murphy. What a great wit. He could make any serious situation funny with the "quick ones".
What about Humphrey Bower’s performance did you like?
It is the reason I chose this book and he did his usual fantastic job of keeping me interested in the story through his many voices of the characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Murphy and his buds created many moments for me. My favorite was towards the end by the river.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book. The characters, the many voices, the story, and the wit. I hope Humphrey Bower reads more books.

A great love story.

Where does The Persimmon Tree rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I loved this book so much I am listening to it again! Bryce Courtney is the best story teller ever...never becoming too wordy, but not leaving out details that give you the complete story. You feel the emotion of each person presented in the book, then Humphrey Bower gives them life with his voice.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Anna was my favorite character because she is so smart for her young years and stands her ground for what she believes in. You can feel her compassion for other people and her hate for others. She is such a brave person during the time of the war.
What about Humphrey Bower’s performance did you like?
He is, by a long ways, the best narrator in the Audible Library. He brings the person to life with the variety of accents - he is a master! Very few narrators have the ability to get the emotion across to the listener like Humphrey Bower. He becomes the character.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were parts of the book that made me laugh and other parts that made me cry.
That is the beauty of Bryce Courtney's books. You never want them to end...and thankfully we get to read more about Anna and Nicholas.

Historia
This is Bryce Courtenay's moving tribute to his son, Damon, a hemophiliac who died from medically acquired AIDS on April 1, 1991, at the age of 24. April Fool's Day is controversial, painful and heartbreaking, yet has a gentle humor. It is also life-affirming, and, above all, a testimony to the incredible regenerative strength of love: how when we confront our worst, we can become our best. This tragic yet uplifting story will change the way you think.

Humphrey Bower brings all of the characters to life, not just in this book but in all of the books by Bryce Courtney.
What did you learn from April Fool's Day that you would use in your daily life?
Be more patient, compassionate , and loving.
