A good improvement

My main issue with the first one was he put too much of his politics into the book that had no affect on the story. This one is much better with that. Also it is much more exiting, as almost the whole book is stuff happening, instead of development.

Story is good, but I wish he kept his politics less involved.

Story is great and all, but it seems at times that he is not even telling a story and just talking about politics. I get that there have to be some politics based on the nature of the story but sometimes it is excessive. I also feel like there are parts that he is really reaching for that dont really make a lot of sense. For example, the part when Dean is talking with students about how there are evil people that want to change the constitution. This makes no sense, these changes are called amendments are were a major part of the founding fathers’ vision. Times like these where the politics were not really needed and hurt the story in my eyes.

I hate it so much, why did he have to kill Simon. The story did not need that. Went from cant wait to get next book in series to not wanting to finish that last 10 minuets of this one so fast. Hate it.

Love characters and story, not a fan of magic.

I loved the first two series, but im getting a little disappointed. The characters and story are great as always. My main complaint is the magic. I loved the first two series because of the science fiction, everything made sense and gave you the feeling of wonder for the future, that everything in the book seems posible, however this book is straying into fantasy. Just plain magic is used.
TL:DR
To much make believe fantasy magic, not enough science elements.
