Tedious and convoluted
Revisado: 12-23-24
Steve Weber was great! I had to force myself to get to the end. I guess that’s was captures you with a Harlen Coben novel. This is not one of his best and I wish I hadn’t started it. But, once I started I had to get to the end. I’m not sure I want to listen to another.

Historia
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben set huge sales records with last year’s Six Years - and he’s poised to do it again in his next breathtaking stand-alone thriller. Harlan Coben, author of six consecutive instant number-one New York Times best sellers and a total of 24 award-winning, best-selling, and internationally acclaimed novels, returns with another ripped-from-real-life thriller full of impossibly high emotional stakes and the real-to-life characters for which he has become famous.

Typical Harlen Coben surprise ending
Revisado: 12-18-24
Unnecessarily gorey with serial murders and tortures. I like the Coben surprise ending, but would have preferred a different story to get us there.

Have you ever had someone question you and your qualifications? Did you ever go to a private event where people look at you like you don’t belong? And the bouncer or security person walks over to let you know it’s a private event and only invited guests should be eating the caviar and drinking the champagne? It’s happened to me more than once, and I always love it when I can say, “I’m on the list. I was invited. I’m supposed to be here."As leaders we don't need to wait for permission. We need to be unapologetic in our leadership. Tune in to this episode to find out what the ...

Historia
Jonas Quarrel was lean, sexy, and equally capable of quoting Renaissance poetry or wielding a dagger. Verity Ames knew Jonas was the perfect partner for an affair - and that he was not the marrying kind. Before long he would be looking for new excitement, leaving Verity behind to run her gourmet restaurant in a California resort, hold on to misty colored memories, and wonder what she was going to do if she were pregnant with his child.

Gift of Gold Sequel
Revisado: 09-06-22
I read all of the reviews prior to listening to this story. In fact, I delayed listening to it for many months. However, because I listened to The Gift of Gold, I wanted to know the ending. This was a fabulous sequel. The reviews are correct; it’s not a stand alone book so if you can’t read or listen to the Gift of Gold, don’t waste your time. Wendy Petersen is a horrible narrator but since I wanted to know the ending, I bore it. Another female narrator who really brings the characters to life would make a great set of books to listen to. I don’t David Colacci is the right choice because the books is primarily from the female point of view. However, Ms. Krentz, it would be wonderful if you could pair a female narrator with David Colacci. I’m sure they would bring this book to life. I’ve read and listened to Jayne Ann Krentz and all of her other names. I love her writing!

Offensive
Revisado: 04-18-22
Starting a romance novel with the domestic abuse of a white woman and her daughter with the rape of a 13 year old black slave girl is offensive. I could not read beyond the first two chapters.
Woman face too much of this type of treatment. No more Patricia Rice for me!!!

Historia
It all started with a bet. When my young son inherited half of his great grandfather’s historic inn, I decided to move us both to the place where I grew up. Notice I said half of the Inn. The other half now belonged to Levi Miller, the famous quarterback who had other ideas about what we should do with the property. We won’t mention that I accidentally injured him during our first meeting, causing him to get eight stitches. You could say we got off on the wrong foot. We bickered a lot as we both moved into the property while we figured things out.

Historia
This is the most distinguished novel that has come out of South Africa in the 20th century, and it is one of the most important novels of the modern era. Cry, the Beloved Country is in some ways a sad book; it is an indictment of a social system that drives native races into resentment and crime; it is a story of Fate, as inevitable, as relentless, as anything of Thomas Hardy's. Beautifully wrought with high poetic compassion, Cry, the Beloved Country is more than just a story, it is a profound experience of the human spirit.

FBI agent Drex Easton is relentlessly driven by a single goal: to outmaneuver the con man once known as Weston Graham. Over the past 30 years, Weston has assumed many names and countless disguises, enabling him to lure eight wealthy women out of their fortunes before they disappeared without a trace, their families left without answers and the authorities without clues. The only common trait among the victims: a new man in their life who also vanished, leaving behind no evidence of his existence...except for one signature custom.

Odd Story

I found the two voices disconcerting and very distracting. Where is the romance? I have numerous Krentz and Quick novels and listen to many several times. I wondered why is never revisited this particular novel. I now know why.
