Historia
In 2008, nine mountaineers failed to return from a winter backpacking trip in the New Mexico mountains. At their final campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing their eyes. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave.

Boring & Unbelievable
Revisado: 07-26-23
Slogged my way through half the book and finally gave up. The story is just to unbelievable and complicated to be anywhere near real. Way to boring with story going off on tangents.

Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.

Simply horrible. Juvenile. Horrible dialog...law enforcement people simply would not speak to each other this way. I made it 1/3 and gave up. Horrible narrator. I've read every Preston & Child book. Huge fan. This one? Who the heck wrote it? It certainly was not these two guys.

Historia
Former LAPD lieutenant Peter Decker is relishing the quiet and slow pace of his new job with the Greenbury police department. The work is low stress and engaging, and it's been almost a year since the last murder in this sleepy upstate New York town. Then the body of a nude man is found deep within the woods, shattering Decker's peace. The death appears to be a suicide - a single shot to the head, the gun by his side. But until the coroner's ruling, the scene must be treated as a suspicious crime.
