Historia
For nearly a decade Garak has longed for just one thing—to go home. Exiled on a space station, surrounded by aliens who loathe and distrust him, going back to Cardassia has been Garak's one dream. Now, finally, he is home. But home is a world whose landscape is filled with death and destruction. Desperation and dust are constant companions and luxury is a glass of clean water and a warm place to sleep.

Absolutely Stupendous
Revisado: 08-09-23
I cannot recommend this novel more. it is outstanding on every level. So much so that I know I am going to listen to it repeatedly.
I do believe this is by far the best novel in all of Star Trek extended literature, and it plays out as an incredible memoir of a very subtly sophisticated character with a deeply hidden and mysterious past and mind within the DS9 lore.
Easily the best Star Trek book I've consumed.

A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret. After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

Yahtzee!!!
Revisado: 01-30-21
Sorry, had to do it, couldn't help myself lol
Yahtzee is a fantastic writer, story teller, narrator, and really damn funny. If there were ever a Monty Python 2.0, Yahtzee would be right up there on the list with Eddie Izzard and Ricky Gervais.
As far as this book goes specifically, It's a fantastically fun romp through a landscape of silly seriousness with a modern-day magical crime caper, a mystical cacophony mired causally by miraculous convexing musings coalescing majestically.

Revisado: 01-14-19
I didn't really know what to expect going into this book. I was hoping to at least gain a greater historical understanding of the powers that be behind Marvel's characters and the origin story of the origin stories. But, what I got something far more powerful and moving on top of my expectations.

Written with input from director Rian Johnson, this official adaptation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi expands on the film to include scenes from alternate versions of the script and other additional content. From the ashes of the Empire has arisen another threat to the galaxy’s freedom: the ruthless First Order. Fortunately, new heroes have emerged to take up arms - and perhaps lay down their lives - for the cause.

Significantly better than the film, in every way.
Revisado: 03-14-18
As many have rightly stated, The Last Jedi film leaves a lot to be desired in terms of explanations. Thankfully, the novelization form fills in a lot of blanks, including details about Snoke's history.
One could say that the novelization of The Last Jedi provides a far more complete picture for the whole story.
Also, the Performance by narrator is bar none is best. He utterly nails the voices for Snoke and Kylo. There were several times where I found myself seriously wondering of they secretly got Adam Driver to read his lines for this audiobook. Over all, all of the characters are vocally portrayed nearly identical as the actors sound in the films. The narrator did an incredible job.

Instant Treasure
Revisado: 10-27-16
I rarely finish books so quickly, I just couldn't stop listening. It has every fun element that made me fall in love with The Martian and Ready Player One without being at all similar in story to either.
We Are Legion is one of those amazing books that just keeps you hooked the whole time and begging for more.
Narration is of course very important. I'm happy to say that this is my first Ray Porter narrated book and I'm already a huge fan of his delivery. I liked him so much, I wouldn't have a problem buying another book simply because he narrates it. He helped truly bring the characters to life and that's really hard to do when so many of the characters all derive as copies of a single mind.
I don't often listen to the same book twice but when I do, I listen to it several times. I'm already on my second listen through after having finished it for the first time today.

Excellent Fiction, Robotic Narrator
Revisado: 08-30-11
I hate writing relatively negative reviews when the only reason why I have a problem with the release is the narrator. If I were just reviewing the books' contents, I'd give it a much higher score.
Due to the robotic and almost hard-to-listen-to narrator, I highly recommend that you find another release of this book. I've already paid for this version so I'm going to power through but it's not very easy... :(

Historia
In this thought-provoking exploration, Matthew May defines elegance as the elusive combination of unusual simplicity and surprising power, and pinpoints the four key elements that characterize it: seduction, subtraction, symmetry, and sustainability. In a story-driven narrative that sheds light on the need for elegance in design, engineering, physics, art, urban planning, sports, and work, May offers a surprising array of stories that illustrate why what's "not there" often matters more than what is.

Elegance Unexpected
Revisado: 06-20-11
I rarely find books that I find to be so impacting and useful that I feel compelled to buy the physical book to gain the benefit of listening and reading at the same time with highlighter in hand. "In Pursuit of Elegance", for me, has risen to the most important book of this year, and one of the most important books in my physical and digital collection. It's effect is far reaching, beyond what I could have expected.
