Historia
When Michael Lewis first met him, Sam Bankman-Fried was the world’s youngest billionaire and crypto’s Gatsby. CEOs, celebrities, and leaders of small countries all vied for his time and cash after he catapulted, practically overnight, onto the Forbes billionaire list. Who was this rumpled guy in cargo shorts and limp white socks, whose eyes twitched across Zoom meetings as he played video games on the side?

Interesting topics, clear pronunciation, variety of vocabularies. This is a great choice for someone already familiar with Spanish. I recommend just listening and trying to understand the main ideas without getting hung up on each word or expression.

Definitely not for Beginners
Revisado: 12-13-17
I don't know why this is titled "For Beginners".
I've been learning Spanish for a number of years. At this point, I understand most of the stories, but still miss many words and occasionally even an entire paragraph.
The stories themselves are interesting enough, but the vocabulary is too advanced for beginners. In addition, the vocabulary is clearly based on Catalonian Spanish, which is less useful for Americans.

Even better than Level 1
Revisado: 11-22-17
I have been waiting for this title for a while and the wait was worthwhile.
This course is even better than the first one for the following reasons:
1) Answers are repeated twice, giving me a chance to correct my mistakes.
2) There is more substance in this course.
I took the first course a while ago and it gave me the confidence to start communicating with patients and family members in Spanish. However, I noticed quickly that my vocabulary was still limited. I was able to construct sentences, but unable to have full conversations.
The second course filled in a a lot of gaps for me. I am more comfortable now speaking in the past, present and future tenses.
I love Hadassah Davids' narration. it's clear and pleasant and easy to listen to. However, for me the course only works if I participate. This is not a course you put on at bedtime and fall asleep to...
Thank you, well done!

Not really for beginners
Revisado: 06-15-17
What would have made Spanish: Short Stories for Beginners better?
This book should be titled "Refresher Spanish for intermediate to advanced students". If you are a beginner, you will be truly lost and give up quickly.
Has Spanish: Short Stories for Beginners turned you off from other books in this genre?
I will continue to seek to improve my language skills, but will be more selective about choosing the right level.
What three words best describe Susana Larraz’s voice?
It's pleasant, native and warm.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was diappointed, because I thought I could just listen to it and improve my vocabulary. If you really want to learn something that stays with you from this book, you probably need to listen a number of times.

Made me Think
Revisado: 07-27-15
What made the experience of listening to How to Connect with Anyone the most enjoyable?
The narrator has a pleasant voice and the book has a nice pace covering different topics.
What did you like best about this story?
This is not a story but a self help book. Having said that, much of the content seems to be based on the personal experiences of the author Steve Pavlina, a pretty well known blogger. The author shares many of his personal experiences and anecdotes. This makes for an interesting listen, but leaves me wondering if what worked for him would work just as well for others. The specific chapter I liked best was about long term relationships and when it is time to move on, as it made me think a lot.
Which scene was your favorite?
I like the idea about connecting with anyone by viewing the world and it's people as already connected and part of a larger whole. This idea, when internalized, can help with overcoming the natural fear and reservedness that some of us feel on meeting new people.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, it's a bit too heavy for a single sitting.
