Historia
It is the early spring of 2016 and Queen Elizabeth is at Windsor Castle in advance of her 90th birthday celebrations. But the preparations are interrupted when a guest is found dead in one of the Castle bedrooms. The scene suggests the young Russian pianist strangled himself, but a badly tied knot leads MI5 to suspect foul play was involved. The Queen leaves the investigation to the professionals—until their suspicions point them in the wrong direction. Unhappy at the mishandling of the case and concerned for her staff's morale, the monarch decides to take matters into her own hands.

Revisado: 02-02-23
This was a fun and cute cozy mystery with my hero, Queen Elizabeth II. I enjoyed the storyline and how it gave a fun glimpse of what could be behind the scenes for the Queen and highlights how intelligent she really was, but most importantly how kind she was. definitely recommend!

Revisado: 01-05-23
Of course, like many, I wanted to read this book because I fell in love with the show "Outlander" and think that Sam, who plays Jamie Fraser, is excellent in that role and I wanted to learn more about him and Scotland. I recently found out through DNA that I'm approximately a quarter Scottish and listening to his journey through the Highlands made me want to visit there even more!! Great read and loved hearing the author read it himself!! I'll definitely get his other books too!!

Historia
Whether she’s playing an “age-defying” book editor on television or dazzling audiences on the Broadway stage, Sutton Foster manages to make it all look easy. How? Crafting. From the moment she picked up a cross stitch needle to escape the bullying chorus girls in her early performing days, she was hooked. Cross stitching led to crocheting, crocheting led to collages, which led to drawing, and so much more. Channeling her emotions into her creations centered Sutton as she navigated the significant moments in her life and gave her tangible reminders of her experiences.

Not at all what I expected, but it was excellent!!
Revisado: 11-30-22
Being a crafter of needlepoint and crochet, I thought this book was something a little different from what the storyline that it took, but what I got was an excellent, albeit heart wrenching story at times, of the author's life and how important crafting was and how it helped her through the most difficult situations in her life. I could definitely relate, and it made me connect with her story. Her experiences with her family were raw and transparent, reflecting real life, while being an actress on the Broadway stage and beyond. Very moving and special in every way... Definitely defines what being a badass is! ❤️😉 Highly recommend!

Los Angeles, 1920s: Socialite Mirielle West's days are crowded with shopping, luncheons, and prepping for the myriad glittering parties she attends with her actor husband, Charlie. She's been too busy to even notice the small patch of pale skin on the back of her hand. Other than an occasional overindulgence in gin and champagne, which helps to numb the pain of recent tragedy, Mirielle is the picture of health. But her doctor insists on more tests, and Mirielle reluctantly agrees. The diagnosis - leprosy - is devastating and unthinkable.

AMAZING writer... Excellent story!!
Revisado: 11-09-22
This is the fourth book I have read from this author, and they are all excellent. Being an RN, the description of how things were in the time periods the author weaves draws me right in! This book was especially meaningful because of something similar that my family went through when my mother contracted TB in the early 1960's and had to go to a Sanitarium. Throughout this book, I could envision her having feelings like the lead character in this book experienced, from the very few stories she ever told about her time there. I will definitely watch for this author's works for my next adventure back in time. ❤️

Historia
In Amanda Skenandore's provocative and profoundly moving debut, set in the tragic intersection between white and Native American culture, a young girl learns about friendship, betrayal, and the sacrifices made in the name of belonging. Told in compelling narratives that alternate between Alma's childhood and her present life, Between Earth and Sky is a haunting and complex story of love and loss, as a quest for justice becomes a journey toward understanding and, ultimately, atonement.

I read The Nurse's Secret by this same author and loved the story and the narration so much, that I looked for another book by her. This book, like the other, had the same ease of slipping me back in time of the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of that period. I learned reading the author's bio that she's a nurse, and maybe because I am as well I could vividly see the action she portrayed in both stories. EXCELLENT.

Alfie McAlister has retreated from London to the peace and quiet of the country to recover from a personal tragedy. But an accidental death - which may have been no accident - reveals that the heart of England is far from the tranquil backwater he imagined.
