So much of the hottest male dirty talk was read by the female reader. Epic fail! This would have been so delicious had the entire book been read by Sebastian York. What a great, book for him to read in totality. Tracey Marks' reading was lackluster and had no chemistry. Disappointing!

Would you listen to I Can't Make This Up again? Why?

Absolutely! Admittedly, prior to listening to this book, I was a Kevin Hart fan. I thought he was a funny, silly comedian. He'd made me laugh on many occasions. But an author with something vital and important to say ... umm, not so much. But, I read through the reviews for this audiobook and was looking for something entertaining to listen to during my 45 minute commute to and from work. The reviews all expressed enthusiasm for his delivery and the funny, poignant stories he shared. So, I thought, well, at least I'll have a good laugh. OH MY, I received far more than that. Kevin explains how he was molded and the choices he made and the challenges he experienced with such honesty, insight and of course humor! He's a wonderful storyteller and he certainly has learned and applied his lessons very well. Prior to listening to this book, I'd been listening to The Power by Rhonda Byrne and The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. Both of these books speak to living life purposefully. Gay encourages us to live and work predominantly in our zone of excellence. Rhonda encourages us to live in accordance with the law of attraction, understanding that the ability to draw all the good, joy, wealth and love that we want to us is possible by first feeling that love NOW and offering it into the universe. Kevin's insights were a wonderful accompaniment with this learning. He clearly is a practitioner of self-actualization and the law of attraction (even though he never references those schools of thought). But, most importantly, he made me laugh, deep, rich belly laughs every time I listened. And he brought joy, smiles and revelations to my days! It was a true delight!

What did you like best about this story?

There were so many wonderful stories. Amazing stories about how he survived his father's ... and mother's personalities and learned what he needed to for his betterment, often in spite of their behavior. I loved his stories about pursuing his career goals - first selling shoes, and then along the comedy circuit. He honestly discussed his process of development, how he began to refine and define his goals by what he experienced and the people to whom he was exposed. That is a very true and honest depiction of how we all mature and learn. I truly appreciated his candor and was moved by his understanding. Certainly, there were times where he sounded like he needed to come up with the perfect sentence/cherry on the top aphorism - but more often, his lessons and outcomes sounded real, personable and true. After listening to his book, I am truly awed and INSPIRED by him and have found such a such deep appreciation for him and his craft.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Hart’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I've listened to his stand up shows and watched a season or two of his sitcom, The Real Husbands of Hollywood. As I mentioned I've always enjoyed his comedy. It's cleaner than most, which I really appreciate and he's silly which I like. His storytelling is similar to my favorite comedians, Bill Cosby, Sinbad, Bernie Mac, Ellen. I love people who observe life and share thoughts that I have had and just recount a good story of how to live and be. This book is different though, because it shares his ... secret sauce. How he's able to craft these stories, where he and they derive, and the focused effort and time he commits. It's easy to take for granted that a comedian has to work at their craft, And while yes, it's true that their naturally funny people, it's only part of why we like to listen to them. This story fills in the blanks insightfully.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could have, but I like that I had more to listen to the next time I was in the car, and I admittedly tried to draw it out, not listening every day so I'd have something new to laugh at when I was tired or had a stressful day.

Any additional comments?

Give it a listen (and yes, I 100% think purchasing the audiobook vs reading the book is the way to go - it's Kevin Hart at his best!). You'll be sooooo glad that you did.
