The story is ok. I finished it tolerating the poor quality of the reader's performance.

Historia
No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

TEDIOUS
Revisado: 07-22-21
After enduring many boring chapters, most of which were devoted to describing the minutiae of daily life in the refugee camp, I finally skipped to the "climax" chapters which were also weighed down with pointless drivel. I tried to find some value for the money I spent, to no avail. I do love Kate Mulgrew's reading but even that was not enough to redeem this steaming pile of plagiarized horse shit.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Quite Lame
Revisado: 03-02-21
I bought this only because Dad is billed as co-author. I'm guessing Owen did most of it though, because it is so lame. Having almost no plot, the narrative mostly consists of feminist political propaganda.

Historia
Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; all the members of the second expedition committed suicide; the third expedition died in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another; the members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within months of their return, all had died of aggressive cancer.

Tedious
Revisado: 11-03-20
An interesting premise, but I guess the "author" doesn't have enough talent to do anything with it. It is nothing but tedious dialogue and character descriptions.

Historia
For 30 years, a secret agency called the Southern Reach has monitored expeditions into Area X - a remote and lush terrain mysteriously sequestered from civilization. After the 12th expedition, the Southern Reach is in disarray, and John Rodriguez (a.k.a. "Control") is the team's newly appointed head. From a series of interrogations, a cache of hidden notes, and more than two hundred hours of profoundly troubling video footage, the secrets of Area X begin to reveal themselves....
