Engaging
Revisado: 01-19-25
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the narrator. I’ve heard worse, though. Still, the story kept me interested.
The MC was, in a word, disturbing, but engaging as well.
The supporting characters all added to the story and as the different layers of interaction between them unfolded, I remained involved in the story.
I await the next book because you can’t just leave us hanging! ;-)

Historia
Paralyzed in a workplace accident, Lox's life is looking bleak. He can't even use the cutting-edge hardware that would allow him to play in the full-immersion games that have become so popular. This all changes when he hears from New Universal Frontiers, the company with the best game out there: World of Magic. They offer him the ability to use their hardware despite his injuries, but at a cost...he can never leave the game.

Liked the concept but…
Revisado: 08-13-24
Overall, not a bad listen from a storyline standpoint. However, I’m about ready to lose it over the dialogue. People use contractions when they talk. The characters in this story don’t. It’s distracting and frustrating. As a writer myself, it’s driving me up the wall.
The magic system is interesting. The plot is somewhat engaging. The MC is a bit of an idiot depleting his mana all the time even when he’s the healer. His demeanor also flits about as if he’s bipolar. Definitely not my favorite narrator.
Again, it’s entertaining but that’s about it. I’m glad it’s free for subscribers.

Historia
For Hudson, the virtual world of PrimeVerse isn't all bad. It's beautiful, much nicer than overpopulated Earth. It almost feels like a vacation except for the volatile wildlife, lack of any amenities, and—oh yeah—the inability to log out. Exploring the world, learning his class, and leveling skills is all fun and games until a powerful rogue player with a vendetta shows up to wipe out Hudson and his primitive tribe. Thrust into a conflict he didn't create, Hudson is forced into a cycle of respawning where he learns that even death can be used as a tool. So much for that vacation.

Needs to track acquisitions better
Revisado: 05-10-24
I loved the story and most of the character development. The world building was decent and I was involved in the story all the way through.
However, it could have been better.
SPOILER ALERT!!!! Don’t proceed further if you don’t want to read some details about the book.
The MC goes through horrific levels of pain but still has low resistance by the end of the book.
The author’loses’ several magic items the character has collected across the books. Also some skills as well.
And the MC’s prowess does not improve until the last book despite being the first Vassal in the new world?
The author really needs to consult with a pro regarding combat, because, well, just no. Talk to Seth Ring about conducting battles. He’s awesome. Sorry, but this is from a veteran’s perspective.
Despite the inconsistencies, I liked the plot well enough to stick with it to the end.

Historia
Lucy used to handle her adult romantic life according to the script she’d been handed. She met a guy just like herself: same age, same background, same hopes and dreams; they got married and started a family. Too bad he made her miserable. Now, two decades later, she’s a nearly divorced, forty-one-year-old schoolteacher with two school-aged sons, and there is no script anymore. So when she meets Joseph, she isn’t exactly looking for love—she’s more in the market for a babysitter.

Marvelous!
Revisado: 03-06-24
I truly enjoyed the story. I laughed, shed a tear or two, got angry and disgusted. And loved every minute.
I am a Black man in the US who married a White woman who is almost 6 years older from a rural family. We’ve been married for 35 years
Years before that I dated a White woman 15 years older in Houston,TX in the early 80’s. We met with much resistance mostly from her sister and ended up separating.
Though this takes place in the UK, it seems that the same issues remain constant no matter the time or place.
Bottom line, this book deserves a good read or a good listen!

It’s okay
Revisado: 01-10-24
There’s nothing wrong with the book or the story. It is interesting if a little convoluted for a first book in a series.
And here’s the but…
Nothing resonated with me. I could not immerse myself in the story and I felt no attachment to the characters. That may have to do with losing something in the translation. And perhaps a cultural difference as well.
I drive a truck for a living and I’m a published author of short stories. I listen to a ton of audiobooks and I’m on a litrpg binge right now.
Several series are must listens for me. This just isn’t one of them.

Historia
The Blue Dagger Society saved the city of Tristholm from Vitaria's minions and defeated the evil under the mountain. Keeping the Etheric Coast free of Vitaria's influence was going to take more aggressive measures than pounding a hammer into some steel. It was time to throw down with a goddess. Knowing they had their own goddess standing right behind them made Tim feel more optimistic about their chances. Eternia's influence was growing with each one of their victories. With the Goddess of Light standing behind them, how could they lose?

Way too much banter
Revisado: 01-10-24
The thing is, I like the characters and the storyline. The problem? Two authors with widely varying styles. One is more succinct and carries the story forward with an appropriate amount of back and forth/ banter. The other author? He goes of on a tangent and finally gats back to the story minutes later…in the middle of a fight no less. Stephen King went on rants all the time but never at a pinch point in the story. Totally ruined immersion for me. I just can’t anymore. I couldn’t even get through half of the third book.

Some people just knew how to go out in style. Tim had never been one of those guys. Tim was always a planner. The plan was to get into college, graduate, and find a well-paying job. That plan was coming together nicely until he saw a presentation to get paid to play The Etheric Coast. At his graduation ceremony. After watching the company's employee recruitment video, Big Richie's words had a whole new meaning. He could spend his life going from a cubicle at work to a one-bedroom apartment and back again...or enter a virtual world of unlimited possibilities.

I love it but...
Revisado: 11-22-23
I love the concept. I love the story. I think the narration is pretty good. What drove me absolutely insane was the exposition in the middle of a battle. Don't get me wrong. I use it in my writing as well, but not even close to the extent in this story. It completely withdrew me from immersion in the action.
I don't know if I can continue the series because of that. Because I found myself doing what I used to do when Stephen King spent 15 pages describing how a fly landed on the window (not really, but you get my meaning). I fast-forwarded through the blather until I found the story again. Exposition, unless used sparingly, destroys immersion!
SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU HAVEN'T READ OR LISTENED TO THE BOOK!
Seriously? The MC has Snare as a spell, but he uses it once? I mean, Come on y'all.

Historia
You are no one. Level zero. Empty of mind and memory. Even your past has been stripped from your brain by the inscrutable System. A long, difficult road lies between you and remembering any part of who you are. A road punctuated with one death after another. You are too puny to survive by might alone. Information is the single resource that might keep you alive, but the brainless “digis” have none of it. Only those with experience can give you what you need, but most care nothing about you or your plight. In fact, some make it their mission to kill you.

Great Premise, Horrible Execution
Revisado: 07-25-23
Didn’t even make it through Chapter 6.
The MC is a moron and there is far too much useless exposition and not enough character development(other than showing that the MC is a complete idiot) and not enough action.
Even when there is action, I’m bored halfway through the scene.

I liked it but…
Revisado: 06-22-23
The story engaged me from the beginning but lost me in the final fight.
I won’t use spoilers but many decisions the MC made, or rather, didn’t make made no sense to me and the writers employed a healthy dose of deus ex machina to get the ending they wanted. Spoiled the whole story for me.
Otherwise it had all the elements of a litrpg I enjoy, but again, until the last fight.

Could have been great, but…
Revisado: 06-15-23
Love the premise of the story and I thought the beginning was good.
But it became predictable very fast and less about progressing the story and more about sex.
Don’t get me wrong, sexuality in the right places can help progress a storyline but the authors cross the line between sexuality and porn.
Big turn off for me.
As far as gaming and leveling aspects? Well, they didn’t make much sense to me. If a character kills 5 to 7 soldiers 5+ levels above him, he should gain more than one level from it. Just saying.
