This whole series is compelling. Kudos to Lane Hayes. For Seth Clayton’s narration is what hooked me. In my over 1000 audiobooks, no one tops Mr Clayton’s interpretation and narration. I wish he did more audio work…

Unexpected and novel

All the while I listened to this book I kept thinking 'there something sort of Vonnegut-like about this story?' It was not anyone's ordinary romance novel - it was something much more - and hard to pin down. Neo-Scifi-Noir-Romance maybe? The narration was just extraordinary. It took me couple of starts to settle in, but once I did it was pure bliss. Everything came SO alive I found hard not to think about it when I was driving or at work and "casting it for a miniseries". Give it more than one chance if it does not work at first - it's not the ordinary drivel you find in some of these romances - its a whole other creature... Glad I stuck with it.

I see all the great reviews so I keep coming back and trying to listen to this, but the narration and characterization is just so off-putting and unappealing - just wrong. It would be absolutely perfect for a gritty pulp detective story, but not the voice of a seductive young professional. I was so annoyed that I could not appreciate the story or writing. I guess the incomparable talents of Seth Clayton have just ruined me.

Michael Pauley can do no wrong

It took a couple of starts with the first in the series, but I got so caught up that I had to follow it though to the end. I have come to like this family so much I hate for it to end. I'd go for books on all the other family members (beyond the 6) or where things go forward for the 6 brothers. Ms Lennox and Michael Pauley are an unbeatable combo.

My favorite first person narrator

What about Robert Neiman’s performance did you like?
Mr Nieman (you have spelled his name differently for this book than for the other half dozen or so books he's narrated) is my favorite narrator for stories told in the first person. He speaks with such ease, his delivery feels natural and honest, and his voice has a very appealing quality. I pretty much listen to anything he narrates.

The chapters are short and I kept finding myself thinking over and over, "okay, just one more chapter". I finished this in one day - I loved the dual first person narration. Both narrators were distinct, believable and appealing. Will probably listen to it again...
