If you’re wanting a watered down version of Haunting Adeline this is it (kinda). The 🌶️ scenes weren’t too graphic and came mostly at the end of the book. The story didn’t make much sense and the main character wasn’t dynamic at all.

dreadful, depressing story

Slapped together formula of mystery novel

Storyline wasn’t impressive it was basic and didn’t really pull me in. It felt like an episode of NCIS where everyone goes along with their assumed character identity and no one ever goes out of assumed character. I did like the internal monologue of Cat - but it didn’t have much depth other than “I’m from a sad childhood now I’m needy and want everyone to love me”. At least it was free. Also I didn’t like the narrator’s voice being whisper quiet at some parts and way too loud in others .

This is only a short excerpt not a full book. Wish I would’ve known this before purchasing. It’s accompanied with two scenes that are already included in the books previous to this. Only thing new was a scene from Pendergast’s childhood.
