Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Historia
Reverend Willie Maxwell was a rural preacher accused of murdering five of his family members for insurance money in the 1970s. With the help of a savvy lawyer, he escaped justice for years until a relative shot him dead at the funeral of his last victim. Despite hundreds of witnesses, Maxwell's murderer was acquitted—thanks to the same attorney who had previously defended the reverend. Casey Cep brings this story to life, from the shocking murders to the courtroom drama to the racial politics of the Deep South.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

LEARN TO PRONOUNCE APPALACHIAN
Revisado: 07-09-18
I'm surprised Sharon McCrumb allowed the reader to mispronounce APPALACHIAN. She, like other residents is a stickler for the proper pronunciation. I would have enjoyed the performance better if the narrator had been informed earlier of the correct pronunciation of APPALACHIAN.

Inaccuracies overtake story
Revisado: 06-12-17
Would you try another book from Colson Whitehead and/or Bahni Turpin?
No. Basing the book on the falacy of actual underground railroads has undermined the whole story. Bringing this myth into the story so early makes the reader question the validity of all other events depicted.
What was most disappointing about Colson Whitehead’s story?
Describing actual railroads running underground with conductors, station masters and schedules.
Was The Underground Railroad (Oprah's Book Club) worth the listening time?
No.
