Another stellar book from Kate Winkler Dawson

This book is beautifully written and unendingly fascinating. The audio narration is perfect. If you enjoy true crime, history, and/or insight into political machinations around public health, you will enjoy this book. No surprise here; everything Winkler Dawson is behind is equally worth your time! I highly recommend all her books and podcasts. Her body of work is consistently excellent.

It’s easy to think there’s nothing new to say about the case; this book disproves that. Excellent recounting with insightful perspective; highly recommend!

One of the top true crime & justice books I’ve recently listened to

There is a fantastic amount of detail, thought, and beauty in this book about a terribly ugly crime and the serious issues with its investigation. I highly recommend this for the genuine insight into the victims and their families, the clarity in covering scientific and legal issues, and the beautiful writing.

Entertaining until it gets too frustrating…

Others have already said it better, but it hears repeating: while entertaining at first, this book descends into the absurd very quickly. It is frustrating to hear the author’s self aggrandizing, conspiratorial thinking, and classic patterns of contradictory logic and outright delusion. This is fascinating as a study of various logical fallacies, if nothing else.
