Deserving for the big screen

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-08-09

Well contrived plot with unexpected endgame. The characters are real and you can feel their emotions and sufferings and triumph. The narrators are great too. This is one of the best thrillers I have read/heard thus far. Ms. Jackson elevates herself to the ranks of P.D. James and Steig Larsson. Brilliant and Imaginative. I cant wait for her new book.

The Mark Audiolibro Por Jason Pinter arte de portada

Very fertile imagination of the author. What an adrenaline-driven adventure of this novice journalist, Mr. Parker who was unceremoniously in a wrong place at the wrong time. With a meagre money to spare, strong guts and great leg muscles, he was able to elude the NYPD cops and FBI and get out of NYC... and then come back? You thought this guy is nuts!. But with a well hatched plan, Amanda on his side (a courageous cold contact whom he shared a ride all the way to Chicago), there can be no better way to spend your life if you elect to die sooner or later. Mr Pinter painted a pint of humor in this book so as not to render your heart in a sustained tachycardia.

Kudos to Mr. Jason Pinter. You have a bright future ahead of you so keep on writing. It wont be surprising if your books land on top of the bestseller's club.

Steve Berry did it again. This is a "cant put down" book and its truly worth your time if you are interested in history. Though it is fictional, the the way the characters were portrayed are almost factual. You could feel the agony and defeat of the Romanovs, you can almost feel the coldness of earth, the stickiness of blood, and the smell of the mortally wounded, detest the callousness of the people in power and rally for the Last Romanov for the betterment of mother Russia.

So far, Steve Berry's vivid imagination intertwined with historical flavor elevates him among the distinguished writers of our time. I read/listened to all his previous books and am eagerly awaiting for the next one.

Not the best of James Patterson's. He could have chosen a better title too. "Quickie" is too kinky and is meant to entice book sales. Officer Lauren Stillwell, an NYPD cop and a lawyer by profession is the kind of character I want to meet in real life. Smart, sharp, gutsy, and ready to defend her husband who has murderous instinct at all cost. She has her weaknesses but perhaps is understandable as you painstakingly listen to the first few chapters. Sad love affair but, the ending of the book is truly unexpected and rewarding.

an American Saga

What a story. Boy meets girl and marry. Couple builds family and migrate to Napa. Children carry on the business, engage in a fist fight and in courtroom battle. Two families part ways, each build wineries and empires. Grandchildren take over and deliver revenues, bitter divorces, corporate drama, collapse of wine empire, reunion, joint venture to make wine, sold in stratospheric price at auction. Never did I finish a book with a happy ending.

I just finished this book and all I can say is that the plot is believable and more realistic than that of the recent Bourne series (Bourne Betrayal).

A movie piece

Revisado: 06-25-07

Why I rated this with 4 stars is because Mr. Eric Van Lustbader is the only writer who can emulate the style of Mr. Ludlum. We have Mr. Bourne as a resurrection of Rambo and Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible)who is well versed in different languages, can disguise in the person of several main characters, crisscross the busy streets in a Ducati despite a hand grabbing his neck like a vise grip slowly depleting his supply of oxygen, submerged underwater for several minutes without gills (like in Harry Potter) and still survives, bleeding and bruised and still subdues his opponents. This book is very entertaining and is definitely made for the movies. The plot however is weak. One CIA officer disappears, rescued by Bourne, assumes his old position because Bourne tells the interrogators that without a doubt, this is Mr. Martin Lindros, his close friend. Then several high ranking officers die after Mr. Lindros assumes his old position in the CIA. Who would you think is the first suspect? Come on!. If this book has a sequel, please indulge in Mr. Bourne's intimate life. Poor guy, Marie died and he is having flashbacks and persecutions for not having saved her. He has been to shrinks and is losing his mind. Give him a break and a little spice in his life too. Soraya is one character who can change his rotten world.

Highly imaginative. This book is a discovery. I must admit that I totally overlooked Mr. Folsom's bestsellers. His style is in the class of Mr. Ludlum's and Mr. James Patterson's. This is a must "hear" for those seeking mystery-thriller combo. The twists and turns and the ending keeps you agape.

exceptional masterpiece

Wow, what a book! I enjoyed the story from the beginning until the very end. The convoluted plot, the characters, the action-packed inter-continental adventure of Todd Belknap.... this is truly a bona fide Robert Ludlum book. I expect this masterpiece to land in the New York Times Bestseller List and I would like to se a sequel by the same authors.
