nice principles but story a little annoying
Revisado: 04-16-12
Any additional comments?
I read this book many years ago and thought it was great. Now, listening to it, it was a little disappointed. The principles and ideas of the book are nice, but the story tries to be an exciting adventure, which for me didn't work.

Homes' deductions a bit too excessive for my taste
Revisado: 02-20-12
What did you like best about A Study in Scarlet? What did you like least?
The era is quite charming and Watson is very likeable, but I have to say that Homes' extraordinary deductions based on apparently insignificant details are just too fictitious and over-the-top for my taste.

good story but tacky performance
Revisado: 12-12-11
How could the performance have been better?
The use of background music every time the main character had his romantic moments (an there a few) spoiled the performance for me. The 'trying to be sexy saxophone tune' is just very tacky! Pity because the book is actually ok, but this just ruined it for me.

Historia
Bluff Superintendent Dalziel falls for the recently bereaved Mrs Fielding’s ample charms, and has to be rescued from a litter of fresh corpses by Inspector Pascoe. After seeing Inspector Pascoe off on his honeymoon with a few ill-chosen words, Superintendent Andy Dalziel soon runs into trouble and water on his own solitary holiday. Rescued by a bunch of somewhat cheerful mourners, he accompanies them back to their rundown mansion to dry off.

not the best Dalziel and Pascoe
Revisado: 12-12-11
If you???ve listened to books by Reginald Hill before, how does this one compare?
I love Reginald Hill's Dalziel and Pascoe books, but this was for me the weakest one of all. The story is not very exciting. Focusing on Dalziel's visit to a family, the domestic setting takes long to start being interesting. Pascoe is absent of the main plot unfortunately, playing a very small part in the story.

annoying and slow!
Revisado: 08-11-11
I love English detective books and have listened to many different authors, always enjoying it. But this book was hard to listen. The story unfolds very slowly and the characters are extremely annoying, making it hard to follow and keep interest. I don't recommend it.

poor audio quality
Revisado: 06-01-11
This is a good book but unfortunately the quality of the recording is very poor and the narrator's voice is muffled. I don't understand why Audible offers recordings that are not of adequate quality.
