Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find it, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous - and addictive - than even Wade dreamed possible. Good Narrator, average story
Revisado: 03-30-21
I have had audiobooks that the narrator made me not like the book. This was the opposite. The narrator made it possible for me to handle finishing this book.
It's not a dramatized performance but characters are discernable from each other and he reads with a good cadence and puts emphasis on words in well.
On the other hand, the story is okay. It's a fairly predictable story where even though the series leans heavily on nostalgia, it falls more on pop culture in this one over video games which the title may imply.
You will still find plenty of references to video games and lots more to music and other nostalgic things from the 80's and earlier.
The end of the book could be a point of contention depending on where you fall on current political issues and the characters seem to fall heavily in line with the current socially acceptable atmosphere.
The end of the story took time for me and again I may not have finished if not for a good narrator.

Storyline okay, but pushing agendas a bit to much.

You FINALLY find out who Janula is! The story has decent has a decent plot and should keep you engaged if you liked the first book, but I feel like the author pushes LGBT issues to much in this book. What I mean by that is: in the first book, it flowed and LGBT characters did not take away from the storyline. There is one part of the storyline that I do not want to reveal because it is a spoiler, but I felt that it ruined the story. It just felt so forced and anti-climactic and I felt like the author was trying to hard to include a larger amount of LGBT characters. It also aggravated me because the author makes it sound like if you make any closes friendships with anyone, they are probably in love with you. You may get my point when you get to the section I am writing about.
