Historia
Seven bodies have washed ashore in Florida, and one of the drowned is Chango, the voodoo sorcerer whose leather pouch holds a child's severed finger. The sorcerer and his six followers have been buried in a mass grave. And prayers have been spoken to exorcise their unholy powers. But Chango's spirit still prowls the moonlit beaches, taking victim after victim...leaving them cannibalized and dismembered.

Buyer Beware! Check out Russo's "Living Things"
Revisado: 03-19-25
This 2021 release is merely a shortened version of the original story by Russo, "Living Things". I was disappointed to learn this, as I bought the book thinking it was a prequel or a continuation of the original book released back in the late 1980's. I read the original book three times over the thirty years I owned it.

Historia
Three top secret research scientists are presumed dead in a boating accident, but the kidnapping of their families the same day raises questions the FBI and local police can't answer, leaving them waiting for a ransom demand that will never come. Central Intelligence Agency analyst Chris Leroux stumbles upon the story, and finds a phone conversation that was never supposed to happen. When he reports it to his boss, the national clandestine services chief, he is uncharacteristically reprimanded for conducting an unauthorized investigation and told to leave it to the FBI.

Slow at times, but worth the credit
Revisado: 02-12-25
I found myself almost growing bored a few times in the course of the book. The ending was worth sticking it out, though. I did not waste my credit.

Historia
When a mysterious former South African commando begins taking wealthy hostages all over the world, it appears at first to be a typical ransom gambit. However, it soon becomes clear that Lucas Van Groot is not only making a fortune with his “Hostage Inc.” venture, but also manipulating worldwide stock markets and causing panic on Wall Street and at the Federal Reserve. Enter Black Box, the CIA’s most secret special operations branch—so surreptitious that not even the Director of CIA is fully privy to the unit’s activities.

Buy the hard copy and skip this audio book
Revisado: 10-29-24
Unfortunately, the narrator ruined this novel for me. First, the author's voice sounds like Sticky Fingers from the rap group Onyx. Second, his enunciation and the cadence of his reading distracted me from the beginning paragraph, and I discovered a new pet peeve with this author. Two examples of this audio book pet peeve, he pronounces the word "with" as "whiff" and "first" as "furse". Other readers may not become so distracted by the author/narrator's reading, but I will not be purchasing other audio projects from Remi Adeleke.

Revisado: 09-16-24
This is the first book of the series that I was disappointed with. I would not recommend this book to others who have found the series satisfying like I had.

Historia
On a warm spring evening, guests gather in a perfectly manicured garden to celebrate Maggie and Len’s twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Maggie leans against the apple tree, watching her fun-loving husband and darling children as her heart swells with pride. As the joyful party atmosphere disappears into the night, close by, the lifeless body of a young woman is pulled from a river. Slipping upstairs to find the special gift for her adoring husband, Maggie stumbles across something else hidden amongst the dusty boxes of family keepsakes.

Historia
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.
