Historia
Rebus and Malcolm Fox go head-to-head when a 30-year-old murder investigation resurfaces, forcing Rebus to confront crimes of the past. Rebus is back on the force, albeit with a demotion and a chip on his shoulder. He is investigating a car accident when news arrives that a case from 30 years ago is being reopened. Rebus's team from those days is suspected of helping a murderer escape justice to further their own ends.

Great narration, great book.

Any additional comments?
James Macpherson proves to be the perfect Rebus narrator, much to my surprise. I've read Rebus for years but avoided James Macpherson's abridged versions. Other reading's have just not worked for me. Tried these on a whim, and I absolutely loved it.
Top notch Rebus, loved the slow build up of his return to the police force.

Historia
From one of the truly preeminent historians of our time, this is a landmark book chronicling the French Revolution. Simon Schama deftly refutes the contemporary notion that the French Revolution represented an uprising of the oppressed poor against a decadent aristocracy and corrupt court. He argues instead that the revolution was born of a rift among the elite over the speed of progress toward modernity and science, social and economic change.

What did you love best about Citizens?
I've been waiting for this book to come onto Audible. Great book and a great narration. Davidson sounds a bit like Simon Schama with a hint of Kenneth Williams in there. Read fast and easy to follow. A rollicking narrative.

Historia
Carole Seddon hates Christmas – it all seems rather a waste of time. So when her best friend, Jude, drags her along to go shopping at a local store called Gallimaufry, she can feel her inner-Scrooge knocking. Then Gallimaufry is burnt down and a body is discovered. It seems like a tragic accident, but it’s not natural causes when a gun is involved.

Any additional comments?
I've been listening to Simon Brett read his own books for 20 years. I wish there were more available here rather than the other narrators, they just don't work for me.
Enjoyed this one immensely. A lovely dry sardonic wit, with a perceptive eye for people's quirky characteristics.
