Historia
It's the end of a night out and Joanna is walking home alone. Then she hears the sound every woman dreads: footsteps behind her, getting faster. She's sure it's him—the man from the bar who wouldn't leave her alone. So Joanna makes a snap decision. She turns, she pushes. Her pursuer tumbles down the steps and lies motionless, facedown on the ground. Now what?

Really Depressing!
Revisado: 04-16-25
The ending is okay-ish, but not good enough to tolerate the entire book. I loved the author's other books, but this one was, sadly, awful. I hated all of the choices that the main character made. I couldn't relate to her at all. The whole thing was extremely stressful and depressing. The only redeeming qualities of the book were a couple of the characters and the fact that the author thoughtfully tried to imagine what might have happened to relationships in these situations.

Very good!
Revisado: 03-25-25
Okay, so I have to be honest. Most of the time, I guess the endings of books. Or, the endings are so ridiculously outlandish that there's no way for it to be a plausible ending. Yet this author keeps me guessing! She's really good! I wasn't disappointed in this book, either. Her characters draw you in, The book moved at a quick pace and kept me up way too late at night. I'm off to buy her next book!
As usual, I like to mention language, etc. I prefer zero swearing in my books, but it seems to be all the rage these days. This has a fair amount of swearing, but at least it's not every other word. No sex scenes. There's mention of violence, as is the nature of crime thrillers and murder mysteries, but, thankfully, there aren't any details. (I hate when authors describe every detail, desensitizing people to it, and even glorifying it. This author certainly doesn't do that.

Really good
Revisado: 03-22-25
I wasn't so sure that I liked the main character, but by the end of the book, I did. This author does a good job of portraying people as flawed, but with good intentions. In doing so, she paints them as being slightly too flawed, but that's okay.
The characters are interesting and draw you in. Plenty of plot twists, which I appreciated! In some spots, the story seemed a little slow, but then you realize that it's a necessary part of the plot. (Hopefully, I am not giving too much away.) Also, this story is very different than Wrong Place, Wrong Time, in many respects... though it's similar in others.
There's a lot of foul language, a little more than Wrong Place, Wrong Time. However, again, at least it's not every other word. Again, not super gory (or glorifying gore, as some do!). Also, not totally creepy dark. No sex scenes.

Really, really good!
Revisado: 03-12-25
I often guess everything in books, or else they have completely implausible endings. This was a complete exception! I really loved this story and the characters. I feel like listening again with knowledge of the end. It will keep you thinking, in a good way. I will see what else this author writes!
The language is bad, but I was so wrapped up in the story that it bothered me less than usual. Some sexual references, but nothing detailed. Not much gore.

Historia
When human bones are found beneath an old chapel in the woods, evidence suggests the remains could be linked to the decades-old case of missing teen Annalise Jansen. Homicide detective Jane Munro—pregnant and acutely attuned to the preciousness of life—hopes the grim discovery will finally bring closure to the girl’s family. But for a group of Annalise’s old friends, once dubbed the Shoreview Six by the media, it threatens to expose a terrible pledge made on an autumn night forty-seven years ago.

Good, but dumb ending
Revisado: 03-09-25
Well, the story had me hooked. It had me guessing. The ending was absolutely ridiculous. Actually, several parts of the ending were ridiculous, and some parts weren't resolved. I'm kind of wondering why I sat through the whole thing, based on the ending.
As an aside, there's language. It's severe, though fairly infrequent. F-bomb, s*%$, c*@%.

Historia
Jess Carter only wants to finish out her senior year of high school. She only came to the tiny town of Banks, Idaho, to make sure her dad doesn't do anything too crazy. Dangerous stalkers and a group of students known as the Pack are the opposite of what she plans on, but that doesn't change the fact that she has zero intentions of getting involved. Except, the stalkers are after her; the insanely hot guy is one of the high school coaches; and the Pack...well, let's just say the name suits them. With nowhere else to turn, Jess must rely on the Pack to protect her.

Copies Twilight
Revisado: 12-24-24
I am an hour in and I just can't go any future. This copies Twilight so much that it's really cringy. Down to over-angry guy in the cafeteria, and "What's his problem??"
However, there's one big thing that I really don't care for, which I think is really unhealthy for the teen crowd this is geared toward. The huge male main character lays his hands on the female main character, and leaves bruises. She then makes excuses for his behavior. He didn't mean to hurt her. It's probably her fault. She just wiggled around too much when he was holding her against her will.
Aside from this, in my brief time of listening: I didn't care for the language f-bomb) and as nice as the narrator is, she doesn't actually sound anything like a teenage girl. I think that they should have cast someone else, and it's not the narrator's fault... but it's annoying to me.

Okay, pretty good, a little over the top though
Revisado: 11-24-24
There were definitely some really over-the-top moments here that kind of spoiled it for me, but otherwise, it was okay. The female narrator, The Girl on the Train, was pretty annoying. She was trying too hard to be sexy, ugh.
I liked most of the characters, and it was pleasant enough to listen to.

Not for kids, great story!
Revisado: 11-24-24
These get better with each book in the series. I really like the characters and how they grow. The first one has bits and pieces of Twilight all over the place, but by now, it's totally it's own thing.
PG13: some really gross parts, underage sex (though not too detailed), drug references, language.

Better Than the First Book, Not For Kids
Revisado: 11-06-24
By now, you've read the first book and accepted that this series copies Twilight rather shamelessly. Still, the characters are interesting, and I want to see what happens.
Why it's not for kids: lots of drug references, sexual innuendos (such as hoop earrings being foot holders), violence.
I do like that the characters grow.
